I went to the local dealer yesterday to make some noise about this. The sales person called Spain (it's the distributor to Portugal) and asked about the MP3 thing.
The Spanish guy said he would only be able to send more information to the sales person in about a month time about the "retrofit". I believe he also said something like updating the PCM via a cd-rom to add the MP3 capability.
But, he also said that MP3 would only be available with MY2006 cars which is not true.
My sales person also did not believed in this MP3 capability being added to end of April and May build cars. They are going to receive a few cars this week and I'll drop by with a CD with MP3's to prove him wrong.
Let's hope an easy retrofit will be available.

Madrid (Porsche Iberica) is clueless... they are finding through me (my dealer) that May build 997 and 987 play mp3

(van welke regio bent u? mijn regio is Deerlijk(kortrijk)
Only the single CD player that is integral with the PCM - not the 6 CD changer, that will only play CD's.
