    997 Carrera 4 Turbolook?

Judging by several posts regarding a future 997 Carrera 4 Turbolook, it seems that there will be one.
Personally, I wouldn't put my money on it.
Porsche didn't make the C4 and C4 S 44 mm wider in the rear without a reason. The 997 Turbo is rumoured to get the same body with the well known side air inlets.
Much wider is hardly possible, Porsche can't build a car as wide as they wish, they have to take a few "rules" into consideration too, not to speak about car wash installations, etc.

To be honest, I never heard even the slightest rumour of a C4(S?) Turbolook. Of course it can't be excluded that as soon as the 997 Turbo shows up, Porsche offers a car with a similar look without the side air inlets. But after I saw one of the current 997 Turbo mules, I doubt it. In my opinion, the 997 Turbo will look like the 997 C4S with five visible differences: side air inlets, slightly different front bumper, rear bumper with air inlets, retractable rear wing similar to the 996 Turbo and the bigger front brakes.

So if people are waiting for a "Turbolook", well...

I also agree with RC but I know why!

    Re: 997 Carrera 4 Turbolook?

A Carrera 4S with X51 power kit would be nice!!!!

    Re: 997 Carrera 4 Turbolook?

Put an aftermarket wing on the C4S unveiled yesterday and dimensionally , including stance and size of tires , you have basically the full front/side/rear silhouette of the 997 Turbo . So how " fresh " will the look of the real thing be when we Turbo waiters finally get ours 1 1/2 - 2 years from now . Thanks a lot , PAG.

    Re: 997 Carrera 4 Turbolook?

My source said, that Porsche never would build three different versions. So the Turbo will have the same widebody. But as I have heard it will be very different then the 997 S(4S)

Never heard anything about a 997 4S turbo look version. This could be only after mid life cycle.

Not if you believe what RC wrote yesterday after seeing it ( Turbo ) again recently .

    Re: 997 Carrera 4 Turbolook?

You're right about the possibility of the TT having the same stance as the C4S but with the wing, inlets etc. I think the TT will be an awesome looking car. I don't understand people's disappointment w/ the C4S. Most people were very happy with the CC2S so I think the amount in which they widened the car is pretty substantial. I mean, 305 tires ? When I was looking into custom 19" rims on my 996TT that was the size most places were recommending as the max I should go. Now it is stock ? Pretty cool if you ask me. The C4's must look wide as anything from the back in person. I'm psyched about the 997TT. More pysched about a 997TT Cab. The 997TT cab is going to look a mile wide from the rear.

I was referring to the exterior, of course I can't say much about the used 4WD system, engine, traction control, DSG, whatever on the test mule. It is possible that Porsche uses a few new things for the Turbo, like the long rumoured electronically controlled 4WD, the advanced PASM and other goodies. I just hope they know what they're doing, if Porsche builds a 997 Turbo with 430 HP or so, I'm out of the game. Not that I care too much about power but this would be ridiculous for such a car. The SL55, the Gallardo, all direct competitors have a 5 in front of the power figure and I heard that the F430 got "only" 490 HP because Ferrari wants to save the "5" for the F430 Stradale.

    0-100 kph (62 mph) in 3.8 seconds.
    0-200 kph (125 mph) in 12 seconds.
    Vmax: 320 kph (200 mph)
This is how the new 997 Turbo should perform. I don't care if it needs 450 or 490 HP to achieve that kind of performance but strategically, it would be wise to offer MINIMUM 480 HP. And of course not heavier than the "old" 996 Turbo, 1600 kg at MAX.

    Re: 997 Carrera 4 Turbolook?

this is so true otherwisw Porsche will be left without a leading model

I totally agree with you, RC. That's what I like... Porsche does not follow the fashion trend more and more HP. A Carrera S with 355 HP can keep up with a BMW M5 or M6 with 507 HP and needs less fuel... that's what impresses me.

Given that 996TTS w/X73 (w/only ?450hp) still would prob roughly equal 430 on N-ring, I'd think it's likely 997TTS will easily outperform 430 on N-ring....after all, hp figs per se are marketing optics for morons (hell, most of the hp and wt figs from mfrs seem dubious upon independent verification). And, given 430's MSRP is roughly 50% more than 996TTS, P clearly is fighting with a rival in a very different price class w/different, though overlapping, buyer demographics....

Well, at least not over here in Germany: 996TTS is 142.2k, F430/F1 is 138.7k/146k. Alright, you can push the F430 price further by ordering very expensive options like the CCM for 13.3k that are already standard at the TTS, but here you can't really speak of different price classes.
