Cayenne MY 2006...read it here first!

First of all, the good news for all current Cayenne owners: NO facelift for MY 2006, the Cayenne stays the same...almost.
The changes for MY 2006? Well, same power, same weight, same look. BUT...PCM system comes with MP3 support (Hallelujah, we prayed for that ), the phone voice activation/operation kit will be available too and there will be some minor mods/fixes and for example the rear 20'' Sport Techno wheels will be available in the 10'' size only on new cars, no more 9'' size.
Other changes? Minor changes, nothing really worth mentioning.

Expect the facelift for next year, MY 2007...summer 2006.

Now this (MY 2006 info) is NOT a rumour, this is confirmed information.

Re: Cayenne MY 2006...read it here first!

    RC,
Will the PCM of the 997 also support MP3?
    Thanks.

I don't know yet. I also don't know if the CD changer will support MP3 too. Right now I'm talking about the CD unit inside the PCM2 with the DVD navigation. A rumour indicated a while ago that ALL PCM2 with DVD navigation can be updated for MP3 playing but I don't have any official confirmation yet. I'm still praying...

Hmm, that's probably the change that was said the PCM for MY2006 Boxster will have. And I'm taking delivery of a 2005 this month and already invested on a iPod and FM Transmitter (I know, not even close to cd like quality ).

Re: Cayenne MY 2006...read it here first!

    Great info. RC THE MAN

Re: Cayenne MY 2006...read it here first!

    Thanks..great news!

Re: Cayenne MY 2006...read it here first!

Thanks for the heads up I'll probably put the order in for the MY2007 in the next month or so.

Re: Cayenne MY 2006...read it here first!

At what month do they change the modeljear? Sorry, forget that and did not found it again.

    Thanks

Thanks it will change in june, new MY will be delivered end of may. I just canceled my order from middle of may to june!

RC, could you give us more information of other new things for MY 06, even if they are small or not to see ...

Re: Cayenne MY 2006...read it here first!

CAUTION: official MY changes start usually around June/July, depending on the cars. I'm not sure your dealer can "control" what MY your car is, so you might end up with a MY 2005 car.
A stupid question: the facelift is due in a year as far as we heard from various sources, why not waiting another year to get the newest model? The changes will be pretty substantial, especially the front.

Re: Cayenne MY 2006...read it here first!

    RC,
Do you mean they start re-tooling in June/July, start actually building the new MY cars in June/July, or actually start shipping them in June/July? I admit not paying close attention, but, this past year, it seems like the 2005 Cayennes didn't show up at the local dealers until at least November, and they had 2004s on the lots until February.

The Porsche production facilities in Leipzig (Cayenne) and Zuffenhausen (911) allow prototype and/or pre-launch manufacturing without any major problems. 996 and 997 together on the same production line? No problem.
Same applies to the Cayenne. And there is no "re-tooling" necessary like it was needed for the 997 launch.
In Germany, first cars of the next MY arrive at dealers around July, depending on the model. Sometimes even earlier if a new model is introduced.

Because I need a new car middle of the year to carry the family, do not want to go by feet for the next 12 month.

I only get this information about delivering, how do I recognize the new MY?

Re: Cayenne MY 2006...read it here first!

You can recognize a new MY by the VIN number.
But why don't you talk to your dealer, he may be able to get you a new MY car...just make sure you get it written black on white.

Re: Cayenne MY 2006...read it here first!

Yes RC that sounds right. I got my 04 Cayenne S in May 2003.

    Yep!

Re: Cayenne MY 2006...read it here first!

I was just at my Porsche dealer in Bellevue, WA, USA to negotiate on an '05 CayS order. I had heard that now was a good time for the best deal on the '05 as the final build was in May. The sales guy said that if I was going to place an order, I should wait until June, because that was when the '06 model details would be available. Delivery would be in August '05. The sales person strongly indicated that the '06 model would contain the facelift I've heard so much about . I mentioned this web site and this post, and he again assured me the '06 would have styling differences, along with a possibility of the horsepower tweaks that are rumored for the CayS, and definitely for the V6. He talked about the spy photos we've all seen, and said he got his information directly from Porsche. So now I'm stumped. What am I missing. Am I to assume the facelift rollout will occur in the US on the '06 models? I guess I'll wait and see. The money is burning a hole in my pocket, you can be quite sure.

Re: Cayenne MY 2006...read it here first!

Well, I won't say what I think about this dealer... And yes, he should visit us from time to time.
Oh, the changes for MY 2006 are already mentioned here...I'm not sure if I mentioned the new key with two buttons (opening/closing).

    teamyonex

Who is your sales man? and if you are talking about Barrier...their customer service after sales sucks!
    just be careful

    Re: teamyonex

Yes, I got my info from Barrier. Since it's the only Porsche dealership within 75 miles, they're pretty much my single source. If Barrier service is no good, I can only imagine needing service as I barrel across Montana or other remote regions of the northwest. Maybe Porsche isn't the brand for me.

"My orderd Cayenne" arrives last week, but the PZ will take it as there company-car as they promised. Up to now it is not possibel to order the "new MY", but they got one this week. They then said, it is only new to play mp3-files and as second, there is no more light in the engine compartment.
    Does someone know more details?

Re: Cayenne MY 2006...read it here first!

Barrier's Service SUCKS bug time, too arrogant and too ignorant. I asked why the cayenne had issues with the LEd trailer lights, when none of my other audis (2 allroad) or bmw did not and the answer from the Service manager was because we are Porsche. I would try to go anywhere but Barrier Wa.

So you are saying that a 06 should be available anytime now?

Re: Cayenne MY 2006...read it here first!

count me in as WAITING happily until Summer '06!!

Re: Cayenne MY 2006...read it here first!

Can the phone option be retrofitted to older models? Is this a bluetooth module?
