Judging from the following articles I think Transport 2000 is a serious organization.

.... or do you think the articles quoted above by SteveR are typical of what you would expect to read from a "serious organisation"?

The BBC publishes "Top Gear", which you could describe as a "prank" car program?

    Fritz,

How do you explain the following article published not by the BBC but by Serco Group PLC:
    http://www.serco.com/media/industrynews/ItemPage.asp?ItemID=7137973

Steve R has quoted one long quote by Steve Hounsham, a member of Transport 2000, judging by the large pair of green quotation marks at the beginning and end of the quote. I consider it as one long quote and not an article written by a BBC journalist:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/4444763.stm

Even serious organizations try to have a sense of humor.

Let's just conclude this thing by saying that I have a hard time taking this organization seriously, based on the articles I read in some of the above links.

I have a hard time taking seriously the concept that - in a free society - an organization could seriously advocate "hi-jacking" an established TV show and it's front-man and turn it into a medium for projecting that organisation's propaganda.

The democratic way to do it would be to start another show promoting the other points of view. In fact, there are already plenty of shows doing just that. The fact that those shows do not have a popular following and do not "sell" well may be hard for their backers to take, but that's life.

Fritz, sometimes you do make sense. Are you getting wiser or am I dumbing down?

That just makes too much sense.

Re: For you Jeremy Clarkson haters

Let's just face it, anti-car haters are just lefty lentil eating loones and should go away and spend their energy choosing some alternative corduroy trousers!!!

I'm sure all people advocating that we should start cycling everywhere have not tried living in windy, hilly and rainy Scotland! I for one will be keeping my Boxster!

Ah, Nick, you've caught me out.

I normally dumb down my posts here specially for your benefit. On this occasion, I simply forgot.

I'll try not to do that too often.
