    Gemballa Roadster and introduction

Hello everyone, I'm Faryan from D.C. and I'm new to the rennteam forum (at least new at posting). Nice to meet you all, I appreciate a lot of the valueable information you guys post on here.

My question pertains to the Gemballa Roadster GTR EVO 3.9l. I was wondering if anyone had some information about it? I've been sleuthing around. All that I know about it is somewhat uncomfirmed. I hear it has 375 BHP N/A, and that it costs somewhere around 140k+ the Boxster. Does anyone have any more pertinent information (Weight, performance, reliability, balance)? Also if you do, how would you compare it to a GT3 with PPCBs, Magnesium wheels, exhaust, RS Wing etc... I've contacted Gemballa but have yet to get a reply via snail mail.

    Thanks, and cheers!

    Re: Gemballa Roadster and introduction

I suppose you mean this little baby?

In my opinion, this is one of the most ridiculous cars but I've never been a fan of Gemballa anyway.
This is no Porsche...this is...good question.
I love MTV's "Pimp my Ride" and this would be probably the result if West Coast Custom would get their hands on it.

Don't feel offended: just a personal opinion.
Get a 996 Turbo S Cab (for probably the same price), add a few horses to it and you'll be much happier.
The Gemballa Roadster GTR 3.9 is based on the 986...this is the Boxster which gets body cracks when equipped with 19'' wheels and/or stiff suspension setups.

Sorry but I'm no friend of visual stuff, this car is just overkill and has nothing to do with a Boxster anymore...not to speak about a Porsche.

    Re: Gemballa Roadster and introduction

Okay, is it just me (since I'm weird) that thinks that grill work looks like chicken coop wire or what?

    Re: Gemballa Roadster and introduction

    Wellcome onboard!!!

I like those rims, they look fantastic in every porsche. Gemballa's have excellent performance figueres, but in terms of "quality" Porsche wins by far, and well..... prices are from another planet It is ridiculous to pay 140k+the boxster..

BTW: There is a special boxster called Stola GTS, with this exact colours(PHOTO).....I remember reading an article magazine time ago of the Stola GTS, at first eye it seemed a very quick and attractive car, (all interior is different). But may be its not so reliable..

Picture of a 996gt3mk2, colours are exactly as Stola's Gts..
Does anybody have information about the Stola, pictures ???

    Re: Gemballa Roadster and introduction

Yea the aesthetics are definitely a bit over the top. The only aspects that I like are the CGT style exhausts and the black-ice carbon fiber hood. What caught my eye about it was the intrigue. They're so clandestine with their operations at Gemballa; perhaps to hide the fact that often times their tuning ends in disaster (i.e. a Cayenne GT 600 who's engine block was ruined after a few thousand miles). I don't trust Gemballa with turbo kits, but I was simply looking for a tuning of a Boxster that could compete with a GT3.

Thanks and if I get a response from Gemballa, I'll post whatever info about it I can find.

    Re: Gemballa Roadster and introduction

The 986 can't "compete" with the GT3, no chance. The needed body re-enforcements would add a lot of weight, forget about it. I know a guy in Munich who put a GT3 Mk1 engine into his Boxster, incl. a 993 GT2 racing brake with 380 mm discs in the front. And yes, he track races this car. But as far as I heard, this is more of a fun car, not a serious competitor for track racing.
If you want something fast for the track...and reliable...get the REAL thing, the GT3 Mk2. Right now they are sold with 10% and more rebate (brandnew) over here in Germany because GT3 production ended, the 997 Carrera S powerkit is almost here with the same power and of course the new 997 GT3 is just around the corner too.
