also check out proclip. they make mounts for the ipod but should work with the treo... they are exactly the same size.

There seems to be a serious problem with the Treo 650 and the 997. I just got a Treo 650 and I love it, it works very fast, very stable and the phone has an extremely good reception almost everywhere. I have the GSM quad band (GSM 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz), unlocked of course.
Now the problem with this phone: I used it over the past two days in my 997 Carrera S because I have a different phone number in my car. The problem? Well: when operating the clutch(!) pedal, I get some sort of ringing/whistling tone(!). This sound seems to come from the speakers of my car but I'm not sure. Seems to be a very strange thing, this is why I'm not using the Treo in my 997 anymore. Because as soon as I turn the Treo off, the strange sound when operating the clutch disappears. Of course if you're using an external antenna, the problem shouldn't appear but anyway, I wanted to let you know about this.

Odd Treo behavior
I have a TREO 650 as does the guy next to me at work. He has a Rangerover with that built in bluetooth system. When he uses the TREO 650 in his car and tries to MAKE a call the TREO 650 somehow is telling the car he is RECEIVING a call... the screen on his Rangerover LOCKED UP to the point where he had to leave it and the battery drained in to ZERO !!
I want to try the GSM chip solution for the 997. I have found the TREO 650 is NOT LOUD enough to use outside or in the car.... really sucks...

I too have the Treo 650 (Sprint) and have since their debut in Nov. 04. FWIW, I've found no acceptable mounting solution for it, and instead keep it in the Palm leather latch holster. When a call comes in, you simply depress the clip and check who's calling, without having to remove the phone from the leather case. When you're finished you just insert the phone back into the belt clip - a lot easier than it sounds.

May I also give a strong recommendation for a Bluetooth headset? I've tried several and none compare to the new Treo Wireless headset, also from Palmone:

Appreciate the links, cantwait2getmine & Patriot! I tried the cup holder, but it didn't fit, Carlos. So far I've been sticking it in the bin below the PCM with my sunglasses (not the best set up when I go into a .7-.9g turn).
I have the same quad-band GSM, RC, but I have not experienced any electromagnetic feedback in the 997. I do get feedback when I have the phone too close to speakerwire in my home office. The fiber optics in the 997 should be more than enough to protect her electronics from cell phone freqs, but I'm no expert (that's for sure!). Appreciate the alert; now I'm going to see if it happens in mine. What do you think is causing the problem?
I'm thinking about some sort of bluetooth solution, but I don't want a headset radiating next to my little brain.

sounds like you need the firmware update. the initial units didnt have the most updated bluetooth. also this is a custom flash available that will give you a volume boost. do a search for a guy named shadowmite.... he's the treo god!!! Gives you a nice volume boost as well as extra (much needed) storage.

I used rom#5 freed up some space and got rid of lots of junk.... volume boost is great but in a Cab in NY nothing short of a 200W amp is gonna do

Some Treo 650 phones are not loud enough, it is a bug not (yet) accepted by Palmone.

john.... dont worry about this patch. This guy is sick.... could probably do a better job running sprint then their ceo. He had the dial-up-networking patch 2 days after the phone was released. Then wifi when treo said it couldnt be done. These patches are being used by thousands and improve the phone tremendously. nothing to fear if you follow the easy directions. And its always reversible.
