There's TU inflation. I read elsewhere that it may in reality take only 20 minutes to do a certain job but the time charged is one hour. It's just done that way; it's not considered cheating. In a chart I saw somewhere it's not exactly just rounding off to the nearest hour either.

On the other side of this is the tech doing the work. He gets paid only for the specified TU time for any work done on your car. If they need to replace an RMS and the book says 600 TU (just an example, NOT the real time allowed!) and he really need 8 hours the nhe has just worked the exrta 2 hours and not been paid for them.

I'm not sure this is possible. In the USA full time employees must be paid for the time they spend at the workplace. If it were true it's very depressing as far as getting quailty service on your Porsche ("there is no substitute," right?).
