    RALLYE DE PARIS 2005!

Just got back guys and what a weekend!
Third rallye de Paris for me and definitely the best.
    Great people and great cars.
I will post many more pics and impressions of course!
Mostly of mine on the track (996C4cab, 997S, 997, Ferrari Challenge Stradale and CLK DTM)
    Enjoy!

    Spyker and 997S

The Spyker is an incredible car, especially in its finish! What an interior, great style, great noise, and great performance!

    Stradale and 968CS

Lots of Stradales! Six in all!
    Amazing car! Simply awesome!
Nick, I have some great thoughts about F1 performance now!
I will post my impression of the car round the track of Dijon Prenois a bit later.
The 968CS was also another revelation, great chassis!
One of the all time front engine Porsche with the 928GTS IMHO!

    Great line up!

2005 edition tunerd out to be a huge hit!
Great classic car and great GTs!
Enzo, Stradale, 430, Vanquish, CLK DTM, GT3RS, etc etc etc etc.
Sadly, the one I really wanted to see wasn't there... The Carrera GT.

    Re: Stradale and 968CS

As good as the 968CS is (and it's very good), the 944 Turbo S is cheaper and faster (and easily modded for more) - I had two. The 968 is of course the more linear power delivery, but the turbos can make an amazing amount of power with the virtually same chassis. Best deal I know of for a track car (price/performance ratio), but they're expensive to maintain. Mine cost 1/4 as much as my 996 but was 3 second/lap faster than the 996...

    Daytona and 430

Was nice to see (and hear! ) the F430, very nice car but no match for its magnificent older sister! What a beauty!

    DTM interior

Mr G., extremely nice guy, proud owner of an Enzo, two Stradale, 430, and just took delivery of this magnificant CLK DTM AMG.
    560 hp, extremely impressive!
Three words to describe the ride: Torque Torque and more torque!
Sadly, very disappointing brakes on the track, car is heavy.
    Shame...
    G. is also crazy about gadget, that car is equipped with two cameras, PC, GPS, etc etc etc...

    DTM inside cam

this one is one the roll cage between the seats, another was mounted on the roof.
BTW, G. holds the world record for Top speed in his Enzo and can prove it.
The onboard computer of the Enzo keeps in memory the highest speed ever achieved: 373 kmh on the digital speedometer!

    Re: RALLYE DE PARIS 2005!

Wow fanch looks like you had a great time . Make sure you'll post a nice write up on these beautiful cars, can't wait. Did you get to drive or ride any of them?

    The Aston boys

Lot of Brits attending the events like each year.
Incl three Vanquish, one of them definitely a PP (Pack Performance with over 500 hp).
Great GT but so heavy on the track!!! making it very slow in corners.

    The daddy was there!

    So wide!
Completely inadapted for Dijon but awesome in Magny Cours!!!
Noise very disappointing, sounds muted next to the awesome Stradale.
    Man, so wide!!!

Actually, THAT would be the daddy for me.

Old, but oh still so beautiful and so efficient!
    A beauty, and a classic!
I'm talking about the F40 of course.
The Stradale is just as good but not a classic! (Yet!)
I will post my impressions of the Stadale on the Ferrari board, I have a lot to say about this unexpectedly AMAZING car!!!

Fastest lap at Magny Cours goes to....

    An M3 CSL!!!
Ok ok, of course, it had to do all with the driver, and the GT3 RS, Enzo, etc. were not exploited to their potential, clearly, so this is not representative at all, but still mighty impressive.
Some German dude, very nice, amazing car on the track, truly!!!
He had a bit more hp than standard CSL, put in by BMW M, but mostly, extremely high performing tires!
    Really impressive.
    Second place goes to..... 997S!
This one is the black one, belongs to a friend of mine actually, equipped with 20mm sport chassis and PCCB. A very efficient tool!
    BTW,
    CSL did lap in 2min13
    997S in 2min14!
I did 2min21, very happy, considering my car is a fat cow (over 1500kgs!) and that it was my fourth time on the track, all the 360 (not Stradale) were behind me, I know, it doesn't mean anything, but it feels good!

A pic of the infamous super performing tires:

    Dutch beauty!

    The interior is simply incredible!
And Lambo style doors, very cool!

    Another classic

In one of my favorite Ferrari colors: Grigrio titanium

    Boxster S

Hugely impressed by the Boxster S
    Visually, aurally and dynamically!
That little nimble bee gave me a lot of work in the tight sections of the tracks, fortunately, the 320 hp helped me pull away each time on the straight.
    Honor is saved, pfff...!!!

    Re: Boxster S

    awesome pics!!
    thanks for sharing

    CLK DTM AMG

    Very impressive car.
Shame it was IMO, as the body kit would be more impressive in a grey shade I think.

    Re: CLK DTM AMG

Wow Fanch, great pictures!! and looks like you had a great time!

Better than the 360 somehow. But I drove the 360 many years ago now.

Just talked to JM, my friend who races and teaches driving courses.
He knows the Stradale and GT3 etc very well.
Told me that the behaviour of the car under strong braking is absolutely normal, same in Porsches, it's a result of new ABS technology, as basically, the ABS engages only on the rear wheels, to it "feels" like the whole rear axle lifts off, but it's normal, so nothing to report on that one.
The only thing is not to engage the turn when it happens.

    Re: RALLYE DE PARIS 2005!

    Thanks for the great pics

    Re: The Aston boys

    Wow, great pics!

    Cheers!

    Captain!
Thanks! Amazing pics! Was Orange around? Shame, would have been nice to meet him.

    Igzaklee,
    Everybody's welcome of course.
There was a special price given to these two American guys from LA.
    Listen to this.
They heard great feeback from the event.
They bought a Porsche 911 2.7RS located in France. Flew in from LA on Friday, picked up the car, did the rallye, and flew back early this week.
Car will follow later this week!
    Respect.
