    How is NEW SLK55AMG compared S4, M3, C55AMG ?

    Considering buying a New SLK55AMG in March as daily commuter.
    Are there any New SLK55AMG owner who would commment driving experience & Performance? That would help me to choose between New RS4, C55AMG, RS6 plus.
    For instance, I have S4 2004 Avant, EVO8 2004 400HP..

    SLK55 is a great car, the performance is very good considering the engine and chassis. Its much more car than a C55, but like all "whats your opinion on this" threads, the best reply should be, go and test drive one.

    I see you have a CLS 55>? If so, the SLK 55 could be a good companion hardcore vs softcore. The SLK would be a good daily drive but the ride is firm. In this price range, some Porsches also fit the bill nicely

    SLK55 as a commuter car?? Is that a statement in under utilization?

    Why not just get a S65 instead? Im sure that 600hp would be even more practical for stop and go traffic use.

    I had an 2003 996TT used as an dailey commuter for 1 month and I quited, Cause ride was little too stiff and Bad fuel consumption^^ made my 996TT into a weekend car^^

    Julian, I wouldn't know if the handling is better than the S4/M3 you mentioned, lap times make the Audi and BMW much faster than the SLK, but if its a daily driver, do lap times really justify the purchase? The SLK55 is faster in a straight line than the M3, the new Audi S4 will beat the SLK with its 420hp. The SLK55 is also as quick as 997C2S.

    I have no driven any of the cars mentioned here, but the SLK55 does have a firm ride, for UK roads at least. I'm not too sure if you'll like that for your daily driver. Perhaps your CLS55 would be better, or if thats too rough then a normal Mercedes?

    The RS4 has the 420hp engine, the current S4 has 344 hp! Those are three totally different cars, the SLK being a rather lightweight roadster with two seats - both the M3 and S4, despite being great for a limousine or convertible, are much heavier and offer a different driving experience. Especially the convertibles of those models are significantly heavier and, definately the M3, also equipped with a softer suspension than the coupe!

    The SLK is not in the same class as the Porsches in terms of engine response, steering or suspension but definately a fun car to drive!

    SLK55AMG is amazing on the track!!!! Isn't it faster than M3 & S4 on a straight line?
    I can't wait to testdrive it in MB dealership in Germany next week.

    Did the C2S have the -20 mm suspension installed? If not, the M3 wouldn't get much help with the sport package...

    Yep, M3 is the real Drivers car. I like it, give me a choice between M3 and SLK, I will take M3.
