Oil pan protectant.

Hi, I would be interested to know if it is harmful for the car to get rid of the cosomline spread underneath the car, precisely under the oil pan? I would like to take it out but don't know if the oil pan is eventually sensitive to any corrosion...It's not very nice to look at with the cosomline...all this yellow protection looks like cooked oil. I got worried at first, thinkink that it was some motor oil.

I meant cosmoline, sorry for the typo. You know, it's like the paraffine coating we used to get on brand new cars before buying them, except that it's underneath the car and it tends to get brown with time, just like baked oil. I finally took off all of it.

If you live in an area that has lots of salt on the roads during the winter, then it is probably best to leave it on, but if not, you can take it off with a pressure washer, mineral spirits, and a lot of elbow grease.

No, I just roll down the windows, and run a rope though the car and up over a rafter in the Garage, and pull the car up off of the ground that way.

Dang, I wish my rafters were exposed so I could take advantage of that way of lifting my car. Oh, wait a minute, my car is a cab. Do you think the cloth top is strong enough?

I forgot about the hardtop. It has only been on the car once, the day I brought the car home from the dealer. It has been in a cover mounted to the side of my garage for years. I suppose I will have to put it back on when I sell my 996 when my 997S arrives.
