    Are you interested in that beast?
    You know, when I was in Houston recently, I saw plenty of C6 and I hate to admit it but the car looks great (apart from the rear which is a bit "fat" with those huge heardlights) but you get a lot of car for the money you pay.
    If you privilege raw power over handling then this is a very good alternative to European and Japanese sports cars.
    Plus in Z06 version, it must really go!
    Oh, and being an audiophile, I can confirm the C6 sounds great too so I can only hope the compressor hasn't ruined the Z06's voice!

    Hi Fanch,

    I'm pretty sure it's one of the best cars money can buy in its price range. But I don't like the style. And even the new Z06 I saw yesterday wouldn't make me happy when it comes to build qualtiy. So I still prefer European products

    Are they going to sell the Z06 version in Europe? I had heard just the regular C6...

    Fanch, the Z06 has no compressor so you will get the full audio effect of its exhaust that has no bends in its pipes!
    Its a straight back design with minimal silencing with a
    great power throaty sound from its 7 liter V8.

    Corvette is getting better. The dimensions are sized right(same as 997),its got the accelleration and top speed, now they need to get the suspension/steering better for more
    precision. Im sure its great as is on a smooth flat track,
    but its really going to need a coil springs and different
    control arms to be as precise feeling on the road.

    The interior could benefit from just even a few hundred dollars more in better quality trim materials. The C6 budget was pretty much finalized before Lutz took over as head of GM. Lutz is a hardcore Aston and Ferrari sports cars guy. He has been hiring interior designers from Europe (ex Audi and BMW people)for other GM car projects, so I am sure that one day we will see a Corvette with a shockingly decent interior.

    Toss out all of the 'Exclusive" shop whines and its still fast as hell, super reliable, durable, gets good MPG
    while priced the same as a 2.7 Boxster.

    They didn't sell the C5-Z06 in Europe and I haven't heard that they will sell the C6-Z06 either but who knows, AFAIK they are selling the C6 with the Z-51 package as standard here in Europe.

    Carlos - Do you know the Euro price of a C6 Z51? Should be reasonable with the weak dollar, but there are always import costs & taxes...

    Thats the funny part... 68,000 euros! about $90,000 for a Vette
    so with that price and Vette's reputation/image here, I don't think I will be seeing any around, just like the C5.

    Latest rumor is the new C6 Z06 is lapping 5 sec faster around VIR than the C5 Z06, VIR is 2.2 miles long.

    Any estimates for the Nurburgring?

    C6, Z51 package is said to pull of a 7:56 with Dave Hill driving, Corvette's Chief Engineer.

    Wow - that's alot faster! The C5 Z06 lapped the Ring in 7:56, btw....

    I went back and tryed to verify the C6 time but could not. My 7:56 time was for the C5Z06 as you stated. Mr. Hill only said the about the C6, "The 2005 would not be quite as good. We will be there in April with a production built Z06.."

    His comment about the C6 Z06 testing in April could be interesting, hopefully some car spy people or ringers will be able to capture a unofficial time and be able to report on it.

    Somewhere there is a referance for the C6 being 2 to 3 seconds slower than the C5 Z06 but I can not locate it.

    Ross - I read that the C6 does the same Ring time as the C5 Z06 (7:56), but that seems a little too convenient...

    Does anybody have a list of Power to Weight ratio's of top rated sports cars? I'm curious where the new C6 Z06 would place.

    The new Z06 should be near the top.

    Ross - I have seen the list and it's definitely pretty high up at 6.26 lb/hp (319hp/ton), but no match for cars like the Caterham Superlight R500 (500hp/ton). Enzo, CGT, Saleen, etc are also higher. Z06 is only US-legal one that costs less than $75k and can also be used comfortably as a daily driver though...

    In fact this is the only way to sell that car in Europe, if it would be cheaper people wouldn't trust the product.

    The Z06 is supposed to hit European territory for about 90k Euros - don't convert taht number into dollars!
