Oil change recommendations

Hi,
In my Porsche manual is stated that I should proceed to an oil change along with the first maintenance check, which happens at 30.000kms or 2 years period, wether one or the other.
Well, if I follow the manual, I should only fill in with motor oil when needed, until the first maintenance term.
What do you think? Have I misunderstood the manual or have I missed something about the oil maintenance change? [I have completed the break-in period following the manual recommendations; I also have one segment of oil showing up on my computer board]
Thanks for your advice regarding oil and the proper method.

The US manual states 20,000 miles or 1 year. Given that 30,000 KM is 18,641 miles I think that you have mis-read the 2 years. And yes I have asked a few of the techs and they all agree at least once a year or every 20,000 miles.

At leeast for the 987, here in Portugal the first car service is 30,000 Km or 2 years, whatever comes first.

19th hole, I've checked again, but my French manual says 2 years, just as the Portuguese one for the 987 series. Go and figure...!

2 years is way too long in my book. I would do it every year (or sooner depending on driving conditions). I just changed oil and I can feel the difference...

I agree on that. After changing oil and filters on my 986 at the yearly service there was a very noticeable difference. Also, there was some hesitation, especially at low speed, when you stepped on the gas that disappeared after. It was probably a sign that service was needed

I'd be curious what difference you can feel with an oil change, I'm assuming one sooner than recommended? Are you talking about the Zen of your car
