    ferrari: the search for a new look

    ...it's very hard and i'm not satisfied yet.

    wow i LOVE the lines on those cars. especially near the headlights.

    the first one is reminiscent of TVR / porsche

    i love it when manufactuers integrate the headlight into the bumper curvature so that it is all one flowing shape.

    another top notch job

    The lines of the 2nd car takes almost the 612's lines which I am in love with which could be a hint how the new 575 would look like.
    When first seeing the 612 in pics I didn't like it at all, but after seeing the car in person, I think it is the best GT available for sale, Ferrari have succeeded with the 'new 456'. But the drawings above really appeals to me.
    Farina, thanks for the pics, I really think you should work for Ferrari.

    The first looks to much like a tvr wich I don't like. The second has more the look like a mercedes-benz.
    just my opinion ....

    but great drawing!!

    OT. I would like to know what type of issues there are when having an open front end like that. Is having a big open front end an advantage or sdisadvantage by todays standards and aerodynamics?

    Ryan, it's a disadvantage in the pressure in the front, especialy when you have a wall or radiators there, cause the horizontal pressure on the car is high.
    However, they could use this to increase the downforce for the front end. For example what is doing Porsche with the GT3RS compared to the GT3. There is a opening in the top of the bumper to permit the air to be evacuated through these opening.
    This front opening reminds me the new Peugeot 407. In real, it's not so a big success, only different and more agressive.

    This could be useful when the engine is highly tuned, and required a important cooling system, with large radiators.

    There actually IS a search for a new " volume model " Ferrari look, to be evaluated by old guard Ferrari and Pininfarina upper management , using free student ideas !
