    Aftermarket BlueTooth phone kits...

    Anybody got any experience of these or can recommend a good one that will work on a 987?

    I remember someone saying they were having one put on their 987 (Rich C I think)...

    Do they work fully, ie cut out music, use speaker and mike in the car and not having to use the phone handset?

    Any help greatly appreciated

    Rich J - your memory serves you well - twas me!

    The dealer is arranging for a local installer they regularly use to fit the Sony Ericson kit in the car before I collect it. I only agreed to this once they had confirmed that it will use the cars speakers and mute the stereo automatically as I had heard previously that it wasn't possible with the MOST setup. The guy they use does all thre installs and has already done 997s with MOST and BOSE. They quoted me Pounds275+VAT to do it, but I'm down there on Sat to drop off a couple of things so will confirm all is going to plan (hopefully I'll get to see my baby under wraps too although they haven't contacted me to confirm it's arrival yet)

    interesting... how do the mute the stereo on MOST cars, and more importantly, how do they get audio into the MOST bus? probably through FM Modulation?

    I spoke to them two days ago, and cars are coming in every day. Julian wasn't even sure whose had arrived when I spoke to him!

    Just out of interest Mr C, which one you going for??? Pounds270ish sounds pretty good.

    Ideally want something thats pretty much hidden away though.

    I, like you, wanted something as subtle as possible, I was actually hoping it would mount inside the ashtry in the centre armrest but it's just a little too big. I actually work for one of their competitors but our in car kit is really bulky.

    The newer HCB-300 looks good and has more toys but I just want to be able to answer calls, I won't even be making any.

    This price didn't include a bracket for the phone as I didn't want one, and they don't actually do one for my phone yet.

    I'd want it for the same as you really, just incoming with the odd outgoing

    Maybe this as an alternative - attaches to sun visor. Just ordered 2 Kondor Visorcoms BT kits so can say more about it next week...

    Have you had a chance of testing the Kondor Visorcom? I'm starting to look at bluetook Handsfree Car Kits that do not need any instalation for my april build S.

    i have a parrot 3100 in my 996 which works fine, does all the muting, using speakers etc. needs no action on my part, just get in and turn on the car and it links up automatically. can use voice dialling too.

    SonyEricsson have a solution called Advance Music Mute which is an add-on for their car kits - basically it is a pair of relays that switch a pair of the speakers between the car kit (during a call) and the analogue outputs of the regular hi-fi (any other time). You still use the normal mute output control of the car kit to mute the hi-fi so that any additional speakers get muted.

    I had this with a (wired) car kit for my P900 phone using an HCA-20 car kit, and I have to say it was the best car kit I have ever used .

    I would be interested to see what people think of their Bluetooth kits as I have now moved on to a BlackBerry so will be forced to use a Bluetooth kit (if only you could get the BlackBerry upgrade they press released for the P900, but that is another story ... )
