I want one too but with manual, it is a no go.
I would be the only one driving it and I cannot justify another car "just for me" (Performante, Trackhawk).

There was a GR parked outside my house a few hours ago, so I had a chance to observe the car very well for the first time.
To be honest it looks very good in white, purposeful and a successful conversion of the original micro-car design.
However, the price is too steep considering the manual gearbox and the fact that it is not a multi purpose car. I find its use and utility very one-dimensional. Homologation special or not it looks like a €20K max €23K with DCT, if there was one available. Also by looking at the car I wasn't sure about the crash worthiness of this diminutive car given its potential high speeds and the kind of use owners are expected to put it in.
For little more money someone could acquire the new Golf R, for example which is a complete and safe hot hatch which could potentially substitute something else from the owner's garage. The GR seems to me like a non-inexpensive addition to other cars owned. Like an amateur weekend cyclist adding a €10.000 bicycle to his collection for the occasional ride.
Anyway, wish the happy owners all enjoyment possible and many safe kilometers.

hunterone:after 1000km I must say its a joy to drive. Maybe there are some reviews that are a little bit to raving but non the less its a modern day Integrale. It has a mechanical feel to it which is in this class a standout.
Must be a fun car to have in Austria this time of year with nice Winter tires

Well, if you have a little bit of cash left, you can get this one:
Lancia Delta Futurista. A Delta HF Integrale "remake".

Really, I use to love these.
All this talk about sensibly priced fun cars is making me itch. We now need Ford to do a RS

I actually love cars with big engines, like the Hellcat Dodges but they are too heavy, too big and have no AWD.
It is a shame that these great Hellcat engines basically go to waste without being used in a proper (affordable) sports car.

Not sure why people think that just because a car is small it is unsafe..
The Yaris got a 5-star NCAP rating... The GR is lighter and has more welds, so probably stronger than the normal version..

NCAP tests like all vehicle tests (consumption, emissions before VW-scandal etc.) are standardized and bear little relevance to every possible real life situation. Consequently, manufacturers make their cars in such a way as to gain good marks in the restricted parameters of the typified test. But this is no guarantee in the case of true to life accident.
Even by looking at a standard Yaris or similar, I wouldn't like to be the driver or the passenger in a big crash, pile-up or rollover. Especially if this basic car structure has been modified to large HP, high speeds and G's and as a result the potential accident might be even more violent.
Nevertheless, I don't wish to sound pessimistic and gloomy. I wish our Yaris GR fans all the driving pleasure in the world with joy, safety and good health.

First real spirited drive today and it was a lot of fun. Traction is anytime anywhere to the fullest available. Very balanced chassis. Super neutral in medium turns, very trust inspiring. Only in really tight corners/hairpins there is understeer. A joy to drive with the diffs. You can jump on full throttle most of the time before corner apex. It “zooms” you out of the corners. Drove in Expert/Sport mode which I find is for road driving the best mode.
Complains: High seating position. Car “sits” a little bit too high. You have movement in sweeping turns but its not really bad and you get used to it the more you drive. Maybe lowering the car helps but then the whole geometry will be different. Can have more power (~350HP) for this first class chassis, suspension, brake setup. The artificial sound is a little bit too much when you drive full on all the time between 4-7k rpm.
Overall im very very happy with it, so confidence inspiring and so most of the time youre way quicker than you expected. Gravel on the road: I don’t care, Snowy: *shrug*, Salt and dust: *muahhh* and I think also in summer with some CUP 2s you will be FAST. Yes when you look on track times there for shure are way faster cars but on public roads there must be a handsome guy with an handsome car to come up with.
another note: I think its the best car you can buy when you are on a budget. You can daily it, have a city car, and an all year round fun/sports car and please dont come up with used choices. You have a new car with full warranty and an up to date technology. Forget about Alpines/Boxsters or comparisons to Golf R or Mini GP. That’s all a joke. This is the car to have, but only when you really intend to drive it to its fullest. When you are cruising around, give it some beans only sometimes then youre better of with other cars. This is a car that shines when youre full on.
My wife dont like it. She sees only Toyota and plastic inside

Quite a drive ! Thanks for the photos. You obviously still like the car.
I haven given up on one. I would like to have at a DD but the only way to be able to have that is to replace my 997 Carrera s with it. For the moment, I can't get to do that.
My wife doesn't want the car. i even tried to trick her with showing her one in black and teller her it is an italian car But it did not work She sees a boy racer Yoyota full of plastic.

I love it. I cant think of a better car in these conditions.
Normaly in Austria a car like the 720s sits in the Garage from end Oktober till beginning of April. In these 5+ month you wait and wait and wait for good weather to do some spirited driving again. But now with the GR Yaris I can do my Sunday morning runs year round and the roads right now are perfect. No cyclists, No motorbikes, No Sport Cars only a few comuter. Shure you have salt, dirt, sand, gravel, and also a few snowy parts but with the Yaris you dont care.
Yes my wife also doesnt like the car. The interior, the image and the exterior . I dont care. I would give away the 997. The Yaris is so much fun when driven spirited.

Get an AWD car next time...
Thanks for sharing the nice pics, it really grew the appetite for this car.
The Yaris GR is great, I really wanted one but I talked to the wife and kids again and no chance, nobody wants to drive manual and we just don't have the room in the garage to fit another car, even outside (considering that my daughter has her Range Rover and my son probably gets an Audi A3 sedan, he finally found something he likes and I do not have to worry about too much...see photo...150 hp "only", fully loaded, not very expensive lease (3xx-ish) and most importantly, he chose it. Sadly, this car costs as much as the Yaris GR (price and lease). It is fully loaded though with thousands of assist systems, navigation, virtual cockpit, sound system, etc..
