    The most underwhelming Le Mans performance from Porsche that I have ever seen. Lets hope that a thorough internal reflection process takes place; clearly identification of what went wrong; and the testicular fortitude to take all necessary decisions in order to ensure that this type of performance is never repeated again.

    The Swiss champion would of had a great career in F1 if given the chance to drive a good car. Lack of sponsors bringing in big money made Red Bull choose other drivers .

    Rébellion, did extremely well for a private team. 2nd and 4th. They are a local team from my area with big ties to my village.  This is was their fair well race. The owner has deceided to concentrate on other matters after reaching his goals.

    What I'm seeing from Porsche so far, is very disturbing. They are blaming their abysmal performance on the "bad luck" they had with mechanical issues that they had during the night. The truth is that the cars were slow right from the start. They went from the pole position to the back of the GT-Pro class in a matter of laps and remained there for the rest of the race. They were consistently 1-1.5 seconds off the pace of the leaders for the entirety of the race.

    We know that BoP can determine performance , but Porsche is well versed (or so it should be) on how to play that game.  It's a game that other manufacturers (often with less resources and history) seem to be far better at playing as the results of the Hyperpole showed on Friday.

    My impression is that Porsche have lost their hunger to win. No excuses. The cars were not properly prepared and their BoP game strategy was off.

    It could be also a matter of Porsche being short of necessary finance for top level motorsport endeavors, assuming that because the VW Group are very much in need of the cash generated by their most profitable member, not much is left for motorsport. Formula E results are also depressing.

    Moreover, there was a change of management, as from the beginning of 2019. Enzinger in place of the successful Walliser. Could this have also played a role? .

    Enzinger was responsible for the successful LMP1 project, so I don't think he is the issue. I think the issues are further down the chain of command (i.e at the implementation level) . The reaction I saw in one of the boxes at the end of the race was quite enlightening: I saw young staff congratulating themselves for having completed the race. Whilst this is certainly an accomplishment for a private team or for a manufacturer that is completing Le Mans for the first time, it is strange (and to me inexcusable) for a manufacturer such as Porsche. Are these young people even aware of Porsche's success in racing (and especially at Le Mans)?

    I remember when Porsche were introducing Cayenne,  motorsport took a back step because supposedly all good engineers were occupied with that project.

    Perhaps, now they will say that  engineering staff are busy with the EVs.

    The highlight for Porsche was the Dempsey-Proton car finishing in P2.

    I would love to see Rebellion win Le Mans.

    But in the absence of other big manufacturers, Toyota cars and their drivers are not stressed enough to break down or to make driving errors.

    Aren't they suppose to pull out of racing factory backed cars after this season? 

    Anyways their cars aren't competitive. The RSR are still quicker in the twisties but their usual advantage out of corners are gone. the 488s are leaving the RSR in the dust every corner exit. They never had the top speed advantage ever but now instead of others chasing them to make up for corner exit now they simply lost the whole straight from the beginning.

    Everything is up in the air. With the current BoP the RSR isn't competitive. There is no point in continuing the program, it would just be a waste of money. They are down on power compared to everything else because of the restrictor, you can only improve handling so much as they are already at the top of the game in that part. 

    Only direction would be to switch to a turbo engine to gain low end torque.
