    Have anyone dynoed thier 997 yet?

    The new 997's have pretty impressive 1/4 mile times and this makes me curious what kind of numbers these cars are putting down to the ground. Has anybody run thier car yet?

    I have seen a dyno in a spanish magazine and their 997S yielded 357HP.

    357HP? Is that to the wheels? If yes, that means that engine's output is far higher than that.

    If that is 357 RWHP, then it's 410-420 FWHP- close to a 996 Turbo . Right. Then why is a car 300 lbs lighter and narrower than a 996 Turbo significantly slower 60- 150 where HP , not gearing, really matters?

    Just checked the article and it was in fact 358.1 HP. It doesn't say but I don't think its to the wheels since that would be way to much, its probably a "compensated" HP figure so people can relate to the official factory claims. I find that the HP figures they show from the dynos are around 3-4% lower than the factory claims in most cars, so this 997S was maybe putting around 367HP or so. But this is just speculation though.

    It was tested with a E46-M3 CSL (they could not get a dyno on that one though due to the SMG or something like that) but the 997S beat it in EVERY acceleration test (from 0-60kmh up to beyond 200kmh tests)and the CSL weighed at 1448kg while the 997S at 1473kg. So the 997S packing hidden horses because the BMW claims 360HP for the 25kg lighter CSL and its was slower all though the kmh range...

    I tried to dyno it but PSM recorded a failure so I stopped. I didn't know which fuse to pull for PSM so I didn't ever get a clean run.

    Don't be so sure, it could have a lot to do with the gearing, which I'd be a lot more likely to believe.

    No, its wasn't just a 0-60 test. It was faster in ALL the gears, from standing starts through 1 geear, up to standing starts going through 1 to 5th gear. And in rolling acceleration tests in different gears.

    Carlos was the magazine "Automovil"? I believe it's the only Spanish magazine that measures the engine power on their main tests. Could you please post the 0-100 and 200Kph acelar. times for both cars? Thanks in advance.

    The mag was "Autopista" which is from the same guys but its weekly instead of monthly. I will scan it and post it when I get a chance
