I know, I was just kidding...no more stripes...or decals...or whatever...

intouch1:the only stripes that i find cool (except ofcourse when they are part of the heritage) are rookie stripes
Are you serious? Two yellow stripes on the back, indicating that you're a...rookie?

What's about removing the stripes only at the back of the car?
Then the worst part is gone and you can also keep the clear protection foil in front.
If that looks not good at all, you can still remove the remaining stripes at the front.

bluelines:Just sell the car and get an R. You will be tired of the R8 in 6 months anyway. It will save you all the future excuses
His changing. Christian loves this car, blue. At 50 yrs you look at different stuff and your image.
He will be tucking his shirt inside his jeans next, I guarantee it .

You are right, I didnt followed whole story. Since I always thought RC is in early 40s, picking R8 was kinda okay. But if he is close to 50s, RS6 seems much more logical choice from my perspective.
Seeing 50yr old ppl driving cars like R8/488/Hurracan seemed always funny to me (almost childish). On other hand its very nice to see older ppl in suits driving cars like Aston Martin. It goes with their age, but also shows they have sense for high-performance machines If older guy is not so business oriented, car like RS6 is amazingly balanced choice IMO.

He took the stripes out, the car is a bland color... Some little change... At least the wheels are not black

I guess you also missed the discussion where RC could not believe that someone would drive an AMG GT-S wearing a suit

Enmanuel:RC:... Same goes to camouflage green (matte color). ...
Are you sure? I see a matte military green Model S driving around here almost every day and that looks hideous.
It is a different color, you need to see it live...this is not your typical military green/brown whatever. Looks very nice.

No R for me...manual...remember? Also no rear seats, so why bother? I still have the GTS Cab and surprisingly (i have the car over a year now), I do not get tired of it. In my opinion the best cab on the market (if you exclude the various Spider/Spyder versions of certain super sports cars) and a very good daily driver in C4 flavor.
I will certainly regret not getting the R from a financial point of view (looking at the current demand...) but me and everybody else know that if I would have gotten the R, I would have never sold it, so...

Milanno:Well if RC is close to 50 I am surprised he picked R8 in first place For older (family) guys highly tuned RS6 (730 HP) seems perfect choice

This is really funny...
I remember some younger guys making the same fun and now I have the nickname "undercover daddy". Why? Because I destroyed them...on the track.
I guess respect needs to be earned, I get it.

Super Darius:Congrats RC,i lost this discussion.
i like the R8 more than the old one...but..but...remember you are a Porsche guy.
I still am, Dario. The GTS stays. Wonderful car.
The R8 just pushed all the right buttons in my emotional department, one reason I leased it for four years instead of three. Also in the hope that maybe in four years, Porsche will come up with their own R8 competitor.
The 991.2 Turbo S is a very fast car (probably not really any bit slower than the R8 in real life) but since Porsche hasn't changed anything in the emotional part (exhaust/engine sound), even "ruined" a bit the very direct steering feel of the 991.1 version and the interior was still looking the same, there was no point in getting the 991.2 Turbo S.
991.2 GT3 or GT3 RS? I get to the track so seldom (maybe once or twice a year), a car like the R8 makes much more sense, considering the guys I am usually having fun with (Carrera GT, 918, Aventador, 458, F12, etc.). Also, the R8 feels like a glove, which is very important for a fun car. I'm not a big fan of mid engined cars but the R8 fits me perfectly, believe it or not. It kind of "supports" my driving style very well. Similar to the 991 Turbo S I had but never really enjoyed because other than on the track and some twisty country roads, the Turbo S was boring like hell.

How about OFKA (old fart kicking ass)?
Maybe I should create a sticker and sell them...could be a business model.
Last time we had Walter Röhrl with us, he put us all to shame and he was 67 (I think) at that time. He was nice enough to say it wasn't easy but...
I was serious about that "undercover daddy" though, even if there is a bit more to that story and not everything is as nice and peachy as it sounds.
