Was speaking to a guy picking up his 997S last week - he'd gone for GT silver. He'd originally wanted Polar but no longer available as a 'special' colour, only as paint to sample approx Pounds3000 in the UK.
Must admit, can understand paying a bit extra for Polar as it looks special and 'different' in isolation, but GT silver only really stands out if it's parked near an Artic Silver one IMHO - but hey, as I keep saying, half the fun is in the speccing.
Polar Silver is one of very few colors I would ever consider paint to sample.....its a gorgeous color....like it way better than GT Silver. Don't know why they got rid of it.
I don't think Porsche actually likes the "paint-to-sample" option as it causes a few headaches for them in the production sequence.....but they have always offered it for buyers that just have to have it. I honestly believe that they think Artic and GT silver are the best in the "silver paint" areas.....which in my opinion Polar is.
