Sorry, but this article is some kind of ridiculous. Of course it is no surprise such a car can get to 60 mph in the acclaimed time - 0 - 100 takes 9 seconds actually and this is not even the same as the Murcie, the Zonda being ahead by about 1 - 2 seconds!
I've seen Evos tuned slightly more which get to 62 mph in 3,3 seconds. That this engine will last 36k miles is nice but nothing spectacular.
Very nice car and definately a great run for the money, but that should be about it!

Actually even the 997S - as an example - covers the 100mph in slightly above 10 sec., that's about one more than that Mitsu.
This car definately provides a lot of fun at stoplights and on country roads (if the suspension is ready for that!) but I would still prefer another car - e.g. a used GT3 or a C4 with sportsuspension.
Traction should be the major problem on those supercars, no matter if with or without AWD. Lambos used to have fairly weak clutches and the Murcie doesn't seem to be prepared for continues hard launches. Acceleration to 100 mph or even beyond seems to provide much more info.
Just as a sidenote the Gemballa Porsche 996 with 700hp (?) that was tested in SportAuto a long time ago had an acceleration to 200 in way below 10 sec. and to 300 in way below 30 sec. Every other supercar looks ridiculous compared to that - 0-62 kph was 4 sec.!

What I like about the Mitsu is the low cost and availability of aftermarket upgrade parts and kits. You can turn it into a real focused serious performer with ease with its great AWD system, power upgrades, etc. But the article exagerates a bit. Also, like you, I'd still prefer a better all a round sportcar like a used GT3

I definetly agree. However it would be a good car to have in the garage next to a GT3 or an F430.
Unfortunatly as I am upgrading next year the GT3 with the F430 (but it may be possible the new 997 GT3 ) I can't afford it for the moment as a third car (I still have the 147 GTA which I will hardly separate from
).The price of the EVO FQ400 is pretty reasonable thinking that it has a 3 year warranty and that the performance are pretty good.
For a weekend car this EVO is perfect, but thats all.

They are about the same accerelation wise, there isn't straights long enough to be able to show differences, same with the E36-M3 (all 3 manuals). But if we took it to the highway, the diferences would become more clear in favor of the carrera at those higher speeds. But in street driving with some traffic, overtaking, accel out of corners onto straights, etc. I'd say they are about the same (with the top up of course).
I really like the M3, its not a 911, but its doesn't pretend to be, its a different package than the 911 (more so the E46 than the E36). It feels different, it rides different, its handles different, but its also easier to drive fast, its more confortable and very practical and stealth. It just depends what you are looking for, I prefer the 911 package but in the sport 4 seaters package I think the M3 is the best choice. And the next gen of M3 is suposed to get a 400HP V8, I just hope it doesn't mean it will get fatter than it already is.
