    Quick question re gear shifer

    does anyone know how to remove the gear shifter??
    do I just screw it off or pull it off??

    has anyone tried??

    someone offered me a turbo shifter. but cant work out how to get rid of my one.

    Usually it comes out with the entire trans when replacing the RMS.

    u mean I cant change a simple gear knob without taking out the whole drivetrain!?!!

    what about those P dealer fitted gearknobs? i m sure they wont need to take out the whole thing just to change a knob??

    Go to B&M shifter . com website.

    They have (had?) DIY instructions on how to remove shift knob.

    Last I heard you have to get an Arnold Schwarznegger-type buddy to pull it straight up and off.

    Warning: There might also be a teeny set screw which would make Arnold go into a 'roid rage.

    When Clarkson did it on Top Gear he simply pulled straight up and it came off..He did it intentionally of course to make Porsche look bad, which is his M.O. when testing anything Porsche.

    The shift knob almost certainly pulls off or unscrews. As I don't have my car yet, I cannot say what mechanism it uses.

    I'd make sure you find out how, before you attempt to do so, so you don't mistakenly damage anything.

    Thats the important bit.... there is a locking ring under there that engages the slot in the actual stick. Pulling the cover up lets you get at the ring, rotate it 90 deg and then the thing should just pull straight up by the knob.

    Jesus, so that advice was wrong. Bloody makes me worried as thats what the OPC said you do to me when I had the Sport Shifter installed. Bloody idiots and sorry for the duff advice. Thats sucks.

    Also, when men find that the sufficient application of force solved their problem, they feel perfectly ok about that solution being 'the correct process' and will gladly repeat that procedure and tell others to do the same. Nevermind the stripped or broken/damaged parts they leave in their wake.
