Why were you disappointed?
I didn't think that the car felt any faster than either of my previous NA 997S's. Granted the car was not broken in and I didn't use all of the throttle, but I did use 2/3rds to 3/4 of the pedal and did go beyond 6500 rpms. The sound, as others have stated, is a bit muted or refined (yuk!) compared to the the pre-facelifted cars. PSE will likely correct the quiet stock exhaust, but will not make the engine any more raspy. Also missing was the beautiful intake noise which Porsche engineers bragged about on the previous car.
As far as PDK, I quess I am just not a fan. Yes, it is fast, but not involving enough for me. I'd rather go slower and have more fun, involvement and control. I will say that Porsche really doesn't get it sometimes, i.e. to offer the 997tt without Sport Chrono is ludicrous and to present a 997.2 launch car to a dealer with PDK but without Sprot Chrono is again, ludicrous, imo. Missing was the aggressive throttle mapping which I so love for a street car. (I know it does not make the car faster, but on the street it makes it more fun to me.) Also I was stuck with whichever shift speed PDK sans SC has. I could not sample the most aggressive shift mode. Even if I could, I am quite confident that PDK is not for me. Porsche's manual gear boxes are excellent with great precision and feel. I don't want to miss that on my next car. And, I know it may sound silly, but I just don't like looking at the center console with what looks like a auto box selector.
I will say that visually, the facelift is exciting; especially the front. I do like the tail lights, but I think they may have over done the LED daytime look.
Maybe I am spoiled and 385 horsepower isn't enough, but for close roughly $100k, I should be pretty much blown away. I'd pefer to spend another $35k and get something that does just that.
I hope that I haven't offended any 997.2 owners or waiters; just my opinions.
