    Ipod and Bluetooth retrofit on 997.1 c4

    Hey guys,
    Will get my '08 c4 next week, can't wait.

    I'm planning to retrofit music audio interface(Part no. 997 044 901 70) Anybody had this, does ipod really fully complies with pcm2 controls in all that matters? Will I still be able to use the 6cd changer?

    I am also looking for a solution for a bluetooth retrofit but 08 tequipment catalog does not offer that as far as I know. I won't use the second sim slot on the pcm and also want to use the phone feature thru PCM. Any suggestions?

    i would like to get some attention on this question due to the matter that i will proceed with something soon, people are more into 997.2s nowadays

    I recently went to Porsche service center to enquire about retro fitting the IPod interface (found on the 2008 Porsche Tequipment Cataloge) in my 08 C2S. I was told the interface supplied by Porsche in not on offer any more (it was fitted for a few cars back at the beginning of the year). Apparently there were some interference problems caused by that and Porsche withdrew offering its own brand interface for 997.1 (although it is an option on the facelifted 997.2 now). The Porsche service center offered to fit the Denison interface which is the only alternative they said they would fit, and I told them to go ahead as the feedback I have been reading on that interface on this forum and elsewhere has generally been good. I am picking my car tomorrow.

    A quick update, I picked my car yesterday with the Denison ipod interface fitted - and I love it. in my previous 997 I had the Nav-TV Ipod interface which crashed often (had to keep restarting the Ipod) and the user interface and experience was of very poor quality. I found the denison to be far better. I didnt fit the optional bluetooth interface.

    Having said that, I've only had the car for a day so I hope no buggy issues appear in the coming days (the one good thing about the denison though compared to the NAV-Tv is you can update the firmware)

    thanks for the info Atlas997,
    what i have been told is the porsche ipod interface works via radio signals and hence has poor sound quality, i don't know if this information is accurate...and i guess i will go for that dension 500 as well for the ipod solution, it does not ruin the warranty to install a 3rd party applicance right?

    and were you able to find any way for the bluetooth connectivity just like the new 997.2?

    The quality of the sound through the Denison I found was very good (the quality of the Nav-TV Ipod interface was very good too, but the Nav-TV was not stable and user interface was poor).

    The Denison interface comes with an optional bluetooth module which can be fitted at the same time as the main Ipod interface. I didn't fit it because I ordered the C2S with the telephone module built in the PCM, so I just use a twin sim card in the PCM Phone and hence have no need for bluetooth...

    The Denison unit was fitted by the Official Porsche Service Center who also supplied it - and as such that gave me the comfort that the warranty would not be affected and the workmanship would be good. It cost (including labour) about USD 1100, so its not cheap, but for me its worth it. But bear in mind that not every porsche service center may offer to fit it as its not a Porsche equipment.

    yeah i've seen the bluetooth extention that comes with its own mic and etc. I don't know if you can handshake this with the embedded mic on 911. I also have the double sim slot but actually i don't find it convenient to switch to airplane mode every other time i get in the car. and for some reason they haven't showed the 911 PCM configuration check this link...

    edit: ok just got that...it is the BTA1500 one that complies, not BTA1000...i'll try that one...still have doubdts about using the in-car mic that comes with the phone module option on pcm...thanks for the feedback bro...

    I'm just about to go through this pain myself. Is the dension the best one to go for, or do people think the new mobridge with bluetooth would be better? I only have standard sound in mine, and nav without phone.

    The Mobridge is more expensive Pounds475 vs around Pounds330 for the Dension (with fitting on top), so if they are both about as good as each other, the Dension wins it!

    Interesting to hear about the NavTV solution, as that was my other option. At least I'm down to 2 now!

    So what about just ripping out the entire console and just inserting the 997.2 touch screen console into it? Is this possible?

    Sounds good, but how much would that cost? Wrtten off 997.2's aren't going to be too common at the moment, and OEM parts would be a fortune wouldn't they.

    Probably around $4000, but I'd love to have that touch screen. I played with it the other day and it's nice. Not to mention the newer maps which is also worth a pretty penny.

    I am thinking about making the switch, which would be my only mod for the interior. Maybe it's worth it? I don't know. But I do know that I hate those knob controls.
