What they are likely testing here is "inside" bits, later to be featured on the 991, on a 997 base. It will still be a while until we see a real 911 with camo around stuttgart, at least a couple of years.

    The rear end looks to have much less of an overhang than the 997. That's the give away.

    If you look again you will see the rear is identical to 997 - no difference at all. The body shell is from 997, not 991.

    Exactly what I meant Carlos . Design may be finalized but 991 with disguise not anytime soon.

    Guys,--a friend of mine who is tight with the factory tells me the 991 design is already done. And it is incredible!

    No need, unless they're making a W-8 or transverse motor . If there was extra length, then maybe...

    Not sure I understand that? If they stay with the current configuration of a longitudinal motor and gearbox, then they need length, not depth nor width (track).

    I would assume with the new engine 9A1 Porsche's got it covered with their 6 Cyl for couple more generations before v8 or w8.

    I was assuming they would not make it any longer so plumbing would have to be moved around it.

    But there still is only so much power they can get out of six NA cylinders.

    I suspect that they will increase the displacement to 4L and compensate for that by making using lighter materials for the engine.

    Hi!
    Nice pics and I'm looking forward to see and read more about the next 911-Generation.
    I'm a bit confused, that the mule uses the smaller rear-mirrors from the 997 MkI?!

    Seems, as per the Car Magazine article posted earlier today, that it indeed was a 991 mule. Interesting. Personally, in the new climate of fuel efficiency, etc. I think there is about a zero chance that Porsche develops an eight cylinder boxer engine. Rather, squeeze out a little more power, and decrease weight to increase performnce.

    It's the same basic chassis - the only difference is the bumper covers (one might be a fraction of an inch longer or shorter)

    There is no chassis

    Modern cars don;t have chassis. I think they stopped all that about 20 years ago. So what are you talking about? Body width? Which body? C2 or C4? Track width? Why don't you show us the data to prove your point? But before you do you might want to read this...
