    upgrade 08 C2S with X51 parts or trade-in for 09

    Currently have a 08 C2s MSRP 99k

    6speed aerokit bose etc

    Should I upgrade to a 09 MSRP 103k
    would be 6speed(don't really want the PDK)
    or
    Should I just upgrade to X51 exhaust headers and Airintake(around 2k worth of upgrades).
    Just the x51 exhaust header upgrade on my old 06 made a big difference

    I will loose about 15k on trade-in

    Better to lose money on trade in than on parts.

    a. A the parts in question won't increase performance drastically.
    b. Aftermarket upgrades retain 0 value.

    The 09 is a drastic improvement and it is best to trade in now before values for pre-facelift cars plummet more.

    if you're not going for the PDK, than you ain't doin' much upgrading... the PDK is the single most significant change... and I understand you not wanting the PDK and preferring the manual trans... I didn't like the reviews, or the feel of it, although I didn't get to drive one... stick with your car, and wait for the upcoming GT3 or RS, or simply the 997 replacement in 3 years, OR gor for a manual TT...

    What about the DFI and completely new engine? Not to mention the new design and better residuals that come hand in hand with the new model...

    don't trade in your 08 and take a 15K loss for a facelifted model unless you hate your current car.

    just do the upgrade, the 2K you need to spend is nothing compare to the trade-in loss.

    besides, a new 09 will eventually depreciate just like any other car.

    Not sure I would do the x51 upgrade but I definitely wouldn't trade it in...facelift or not, it's still a 997 and the new 911 is what, 3 years away? If you're going to take the trade-in hit, I'd say wait for the new 911.

    What I meant to add is if you think you might be trading in the '09 when the new 911 comes out, you'll take 2 hits on trade-in. I would only do the '09 if I KNEW I would have no interest in the new 911 when it appears...and I can't say that yet.

    $15K loss is fantastic compared to UK. I'd go for 09 car! All 911 in UK will lose Pounds30K ($52K) in first year and we have to pay MRRP!!!

    cosmetic and superficial changes... the PDK is the single most significant change... the changes you mention will not impact your daily driving experience as much as the PDK will...

    Only do the upgrades you like as they hold no value except to you:
    1- If you want straight line speed to drive on the motorway, go for it (X51)
    2- If you want trackdays, suspensions and tyres are better ($3-5.000)
    3- If you want to drive faster and cheaper get your Racing Licence ($2.000?)

    The individual X51 parts in question will not improve anything.

    You need the whole package, and at that price point (15-20k+ USD) it makes more sense to upgrade to the newer model because a larger percentage of your spending will be retained as equity upon resale.

    you have a beautiful car, why upgrade or change? keep it... you want to spend $15 on something fun and hot? Ducati 1098

    I have an '08 Targa 4S manual, I love the car, I do not want PDK although it must be nice and faster, I want to feel the manual drive... and be awake while driving. Facelift - not so hot on it. Bluetooth feature - worth $2-3k for me, not a penny more.

    Upgrading for another 997 S will still lead you to one result. You'll still have a 997 S. If you want to install X51 parts, do it. I intent to do that too. I've got a 997 S, but instead of trading it to get almost the same car I will go for X51 parts instead. A friend dynoed his car who's got a 997 S too. He installed X51 parts along with a DME from another company+exhaust system+racing cats and it's got 405 reiable horses now. NO CAMSHAFTS, NO engine opening. If you want the dyno sheet I will send it to you in private. But the car turned to be almost a GT3 (on a straight line).
