Is there a chance that my 09 TT on order will have the new tail lights ? nothing major but good to have them.

    no.. ,

but i think we can update our rear bumper and taillihgts as soon as the restyling of the TT will come..and i think not before end 2009 or early 2010(year ,not MY )

Re: 997 GT2 by Oackley Design

Apparently rumour is that Porsche is preparing a GT2 S model that will be very limited (25 cars only). Don't know details but I heard that this is an early mule. Will post more when I get more info.

if porsche will do it will be a beast

Re: 997 GT2 by Oackley Design

standard GT2 already has titanium exhaust if i remember correctly...

Re: 997 GT2 by Oackley Design

Yes the GT2 one is partly titanium partly aluminium. That oakley fully titanium one another a further 10kgs lighter allegently.

Re: 997 GT2 by Oackley Design

The stock titanium GT2 exhaust weighs 13 kg so I doubt they can save another 10 kg.

The GTR probably prompted this as a good arse kick..

Re: 997 GT2 by Oackley Design

And how much does the tt exhaust weigh?

If only the search function worked you could check back on threads dealing with the introduction of the 997 GT2. I think the weight reduction from the TT to the GT2 was given as about 12 kg.

PS: There wouldn't be any aluminium in the GT2's exhaust system, as no aluminium alloy would stand up to the temperatures which an exhaust system is subjected to.

    About 21 kg

The GT2 exhaust is partly stainless steel ( the flanges and the cats ) and partly titanium ( the muffler and the tailpipes )
The SS and Ti are connected with exhaust clamps.
Apparently Ti and SS cannot be joined by welding.

Re: 997 GT2 by Oackley Design

GT2 S will be around 600-610hp- according to my source- and will not have PASM..
Got a short test drive in the oakley car (that I was told is a mule) and was pretty quick and suspension felt pretty stiff.. Interestingly that titanium exhaust made very little of none of that very annoying resonance that my cargraphic exhaust makes while still made a lot of power. I just ordered it..

I don't believe this... Porsche have never done anything like this and can't see why they would start now - the GT-R will not worry them IMO and certainly not prompt a GT2 S. 600hp RWD and no PASM - what would be the point

Re: 997 GT2 by Oackley Design

I think the rumor may have some merit although I doubt it will cary the S suffix. The 996 GT2 recieved a power hike and it is almost a given that the DI A91 engine will produce more power than the current version. 600+hp is not far fetched although I believe official numbers will be circa 550 hp (producing considerably more "real hp" ala GTR). Removing PASM will enable Porsche to use one optimised suspension setting instead of 2 compromised ones. It sure is fun to speculate!

Re: 997 GT2 by Oackley Design

With Porsche you get the hp which they advertise - check out the tests of a stock GT2 on Cargraphic web site this is measured the way Porsche do it on very expensive turbo specific (ie correct cooling /intercooling) engine dyno -Unfortunately because of the proliferation of cheap chassis dynos (which always struggle to measure Porsche turbo hp with any accuracy and are easily fooled by winding up the boost to produce exciting flash readings which tend to dissappear away from a 8 second "dyno run") this myth about under rated Porsche hp is rife !

I agree if there is a MK2 GT2 it will probably have 550hp (this is doable with a cat swap without even touching the programming !) but you won't see real 600 Porsche hp (ie big fat power curve) in a RWD 911 it is just a bit too dangerous IMO (based on a fair bit of experience) and it is too close to the reliability ceiling - 550hp is about the limit with any more requiring some serious cooling hardware on these types of engines (and can't see the A91 being THAT much diifferent in this regard)

    I don't believe it either

Porsche is not the kind of company that does limited editions of 25 cars... They want to earn money.

If Porsche should upgrade the GT2 at some point in the future they will sell it as the GT2 Mk2. BTW, such Mk2 version of the 997GT2 (should it ever appear) will never have 600hp (or even more).... I would not expect more than 550-560hp max.

My expectation: no news regarding the GT2 until 2010. Maybe an update then. However, chances are rather small that there will be an update at all

Re: 997 GT2 by Oackley Design

I always thought Porsche was conservative with their hp numbers but your explaination makes sense. Regardless, MK2 GT2 will be a beast!
