    ML 63 Question

Anyone on rennteam owns a ML63 by any chance? other than MikeS .

I'm looking into one that I saw this morning '09 ML63 pretty much fully loaded white and black interior, sticker around 93k but I can get it for around mid 80s.

Need to know pros and cons please, appreciate it.

    Re: ML 63 Question

I had the 04 Cayenne tt with power kit for over two years. That time it was the top of the line in the SUV market- very prestige's luxuries and expensive. But poor break system and turbo lag were always issues while driving. .The car was never perfect. In late 2006 I changed my Porsche for the ML63,You need to take a test drive to see how light the truck feel .Grate power , smooth acceleration, fantastic breaks and a car which offer way more for much less.
Run my is white ,I well post some pictures later today.

    Re: ML 63 Question

    Great, thanks.

I was aware of the hesitation in Cayenne too. I actually test drove a Cayenne S and I immediately felt the lack of immediate power delivery as well . Pushing the accelerator and it takes like a second or two for the car to take off.

To be honest I like the looks of the ML better in particular the new front lights on the '09.

    Anytime Ron.

    Re: ML 63 Question

Hahaha, wow does my opinion not count Ron?

I already posted some recent pics of mine a week or two back. If you can Ron, do it! Really great SUV IMO! Also much lighter on fuel than our CTT.

    Re: ML 63 Question

    Ron,

You cannot compare the ML63 with the CTT08/09, first of all the ML is a much smaller car (too small in my opinion) and it doesn't have the credentials the CTT has offroad. Thirdly the ML IMO doesn't have flare and is very basic from the inside, nothing special, lots of plastic...... hence doesn't come close to the CTT ambience.

I had the GL55 for half a day and again it is a lovely car to drive (big boat) but doesn't come close to the experience of driving the CTT08. You put your foot down in the GL55 and the car starts thinking about giving you more power, all takes time and by the time you got it the purpose has gone. OK the GL55 is much bigger to the ML63 and you probably would say you cannot compare the two either.

Obviously it is your choice but I know what I would have chosen and that is not the ML63 over the CCT08/09

    Cheers,

    Mark

Again ML63 is a great looking car though

    Mike,

Not at all Mike. I was trying to be funny but didn't work .

I remember you compared it to your CT and the conclusion was the ML63 was a better performer, am I correct ?

    Re: ML 63 Question

    Thanks Mark.

I need to go ahead and test drive another Cayenne. The one that I test drove was the first generation (before facelift) and as I mentioned earlier in the post, the power delivery wasn't immediate (hesitation/lurking issue).

The new ones with DFI may have changed need to try it one of these days.

I know you were being sarcastic No worries buddy.

They are very very close, the ML63's throttle response is MUCH better. Almost instantaneous, the gearshifts are also super fast for an automatic. The 7speed gearbox is also lovely!

You can hear how fast it shifts in this video I made of the first ML63 AMG we had.

Ron, you will be amazed, as mentioned in a previous post one of my friend has a Mark I cayenne and although he is very happy with the CS he said that the power delivery of the Mark II is much much better, so as you already said book yourself a test drive in a facelift Cayenne and enjoy the ride. I can hardly notice gearshifts and it is total joy when I floor the throttle

    Best regards,

    Mark

    Always a pleasure Ron

    Re: ML 63 Question

Well, the ML63 is gone. After the Hurricane IKE I figured it would be a good time to negotiate even lower price than mid 80's we were talking about few weeks ago, but apparently somebody that was here from Dubai paid the sticker (~94 k) for it .

    ha, was that you?
