The GT3 is a great car (in fact, I have only driven the GT3 RS). However, the GT3 lacks power (just try to accelerate quickly out of tight corners in the GT3...). That's where the GT2 comes into play For me there is no doubt which car I prefer

Re: Porsche 911 Turbo vs. GT2 vs. GT3 which is Bes

If you are..., what 35 or older(?)..., AND drive almost exclusively on public roads? The answer IMO is the 911 Turbo.

TT is more discrete, has more than enough power, and gives comfort you'd want after a long drive, or a long day. When you want to go wild the car transforms into a monsterous back-road burner.

+1 The sales manager at the local Porsche dealer said the same to me. He said the TT is a gentlemen car, wear your suit and take it to work everyday while wearing a business suit in the Gt2 or Gt3 is hidious and you should look more like a punk when driving the Gt2 or gt3 , the new look that the chicks dig

Re: Porsche 911 Turbo vs. GT2 vs. GT3 which is Bes

The other thing I remember reading (please correct me if wrong), to save weight the GT cars have NON ADJUSTABLE seat backs! You are literally stuck in one upright position.

If true, and I think it is, the case is closed for us non-tracking post-30 "old" guys.

Re: Porsche 911 Turbo vs. GT2 vs. GT3 which is Bes

the best solution of all is to have a TT as daily driver.....and the GT2 for the weekends in jeans
...dry weekends that is....which we alwys have here.......

then again, i did not drive neither my TT nor the GT2 for about 6 weeks. the cayenne just does it all for commuting

Re: Porsche 911 Turbo vs. GT2 vs. GT3 which is Bes

I agree that it's tough to be taken seriously when stepping out of a P-car with a huge spoiler. People either love it or they hate it. You can always argue that you shouldn't care what others think, but sometimes image matters.

Turbo/Carrera are a bit more neutral, but not that much... Pcars really carry a d-bag image these days

Re: Porsche 911 Turbo vs. GT2 vs. GT3 which is Bes

    I'd say GT3.

Best engine of them all (revs way higher than the GT2). Never driven a GT2 though.

The turbo is too soft. Way too soft. It's a proper GT car but not that much fun.

Considering we live in continental Europe, the Turbo seems like a smart choice, especially when considering its DD qualities. Besides, getting a set of damptronics and some other bits and bobs will make it just as sharp as the GT2.

Re: Porsche 911 Turbo vs. GT2 vs. GT3 which is Bes

Most fun to drive => Cayman S

    NOT true at all.

Re: Porsche 911 Turbo vs. GT2 vs. GT3 which is Bes

GT3 for back roads and tighter tracks. Best sound and feel. Most fun to drive.
GT2 for faster tracks and autobahns. The ultimate 911 but not always the most fun to drive.
Turbo for bad weather and when a small back seat is needed.

That's only if you get the sport buckets.

Re: Porsche 911 Turbo vs. GT2 vs. GT3 which is Bes

AFAIK, it was possible to get a 997 GT3 Mk1 with Adaptive Sports Seats

i truly believe, that you should try a GT2 befor saying the GT3 is better.....i have not driven a GT3 but own a GT2

guess one should really have tried both to have a clear picture.

however, the sheer power of the GT2 is mindnumbing....and it sure is faster on the road as well as the track....

i hate the spoilers too and thinks the cars look better without them....but if you take the cars character into the equation, then the spoiler does fit the 3 and 2.

look at what merc is doing with the new black series SL...now that is truly disgusting....

    NOT true at all.

the backrest is not adjustable. in the GT2 it reclines to give you access to the back. however, the seating position is just perfect. takes you a couple of miles for your body to settle in the right position...

Adaptives for sure are an option on the GT2....not sure about the 3 though.

the carbon seats are perfect and i would not understand how anyone opts for adaptives in these two cars.

Re: Porsche 911 Turbo vs. GT2 vs. GT3 which is Bes

Well, one reason is that the adaptive sports seats come with lumbar support which is very beneficial for people who get lower back pain.

I should also add that I like the look of the bucket seats in the CGT but I'm not as attracted to the look of the 'folding' bucket seats of the GT2.

By the way, I did sit in the GT2 bucket seats once. I'm obviously a little larger than you and I felt it was a little on the narrow side for me.

Yep. They get a bit narrow for physically wider folks.

    You're joking...right??

Re: Porsche 911 Turbo vs. GT2 vs. GT3 which is Bes

You gotta consider this for seat fit.

When I first sat in my BMW sport seats and Porsche's ASS, my behind ached. I thought I made a Biiiiig mistake. A few weeks later that was just a memory. Don't know what happened, but has something to do with getting your body used to them.

Maybe..., I thought the "most fun to drive" is a Lotus Elise, or a racing go cart.

Re: Porsche 911 Turbo vs. GT2 vs. GT3 which is Bes

The most fun you can have on something with wheels is a motorcycle.... After that, "it's all relative"...

For me, once the price-tag is north of $150K, I'm not in the market for a Porsche anymore.... Too many other tempting options out there, new and/or slightly used, that in the $150K-250K range I'd be seriously considering others...

Nope, for me, the iconic Carrera and Carrera S just tugs at my heartstrings in it mix of aesthetics and perfect packaging and road feel.

I appreciate the GT3 to its fullest, but yeah, that damn rear eyesore...

The Turbo surely has the power I crave, but I dislike AWD immensely, and the styling of the Turbo is overwrought, a ruination of a beautiful and basic form.

The GT2 is too damn expensive... For that kinda dough, I'd stray to Ferrari or buy-up a barely-used Ford GT (so gorgeous!) and take advantage of some of the easy performance mods that quickly ramp that car up to 800+ horsepower...

At the end of the day, if I was to choose between the three choices given, and it was my money, I'd probably go with the GT3 along with some carefully chosen options to keep me comfy like I am in my S.

In some ways, I can accept the wing on the rear more than I can accept big holes hacked into my gal's hips...
