    SPORT button & exhaust issue

    I was wondering if you guys have the same issue...
    When the sport button is engaged.. the exhaust valve sometimes still closes between 2k and 3k RPM, only to re-open above and below this... it's not always like this.. only about 70% of the time...
    I thought SPORT buttton leaves the vale open at all times.
    I thought there could be something wrong with the valve, but since there is one on each side... and since they both close and open at exactly the same time, I am ruling out a physical/mechanical issue with the valves themselves...
    Did anyone that this issue and how did you resolve it?

    I believe it is supposed to do that, i.e. switch itself off at lower speed/revs.

    That is my understanding too - below about 30mph it assumes you are on a residential street and switches down

    Thats how its supposed to work, roughly between 45-80kmph, the the exhaust quiets down, and its only lous outside those speeds.

    The explanation I heard for this is that its at those speeds were the homologation noise tests are performed here in europe so in order to make it legal they make it quiet between those speeds

    The way to make it loud all the time is to unplug the orange connector that powers the vacum that open/close the resonnace valves in the mufflers.

    45-80 kph is the speeds you would be driving in towns and cities most of the time in Germany, and probably whey they want to have those speeds be quieter. When slower, the engine is itself somewhat quieter, so its not annoying, and above 80 kph your usually on a highway or superhighway and, again, your not annoying people.
