    GTS Red on a 997

I really love the GTS Red.. No photos do it justice and it really grows on you

I was thinking of ordering it on my FL997, but couldn't find any photos of it on any car besides the Cayenne GTS.

Has anyone on this board come across one? And what are your thoughts on ordering GTS Red as a paint-to-sample (allbeit an available colour at PAG)

Here's a Photoshoped version. It should be very close, although not so metallic

Re: GTS Red on a 997

    yucky

Re: GTS Red on a 997

That colour looks indeed promising, however one must be willing to pay the premium for the selected paint scheme.
Just a quick PS adaption, have only seen this colour on the Cayenne so far:

Re: GTS Red on a 997

Here's Ruby Red. Is this what you're pointing to? FWIW:

Re: GTS Red on a 997

    'nother:

BTW, original uppermost photo of showroom looks overly saturated. Notice that white background with emblem and "Porsche" is reddish.

Re: GTS Red on a 997

    I love ruby red!

Re: GTS Red on a 997

Ferdie: WoW! Great Photoshop job, well done! I should invest more time honing my Photoshop "skills"!

MMD: Ruby Red is red metallic, while GTS Red is a solid red with a slight magenta tint to it (dare I say lipstick red?)
And you're right about my photo, it's overly-EVERYTHING!

Since my photoshop skills are lame at best, I tried playing around with hue/saturation ..etc to get that effect (it's based on a nordic gold, that's why it's so metallic)

What do you think of these specs to go along?

    I. Definitely:
    • Full leather black
    • Sport seats
    • Alcantara seat inlays
    • Alcantara door center panels
    • Carbon Package
    • Carbon steering wheel (PDK)

I know some might say that I should either go for an all-carbon or all-Alcantara interior but the first is too much for my taste and the later seems to me like a GT3-wannabe

II. To be considered (don't wanna go overboard with Red):
    • Red seat belts (GTS Red where possible)
    • Deviated Red stitching on seats (GTS Red where possible)
    • Red piping on floor mats (GTS Red where possible)

Re: GTS Red on a 997

The above quoted targa looks in deed like "Ruby Red".

    No doubt a nice colour.

Re: GTS Red on a 997

    911 in Cayenne GTS Red.

Re: GTS Red on a 997

I had that idea before.....colour shall look great. And it does....would be definitely a desirable option!

Re: GTS Red on a 997

Porsche_fanatic, Thanks for the info. I guess I'm like a trained seal: I always go for the metallic colors.

IM_H_O avoid red belts because they're sloppy and floppy distractions. Avoid red stitching because everybody who gets in your car will comment and question the stitching; gets tiring. Again just my opinion.

Adaptive sport seats are best (ASS). Get them. Red piping will be nice flair/accent for interior. Maximum amount of CF interior is really nice IMO, however CF wheel might be too much: nice grippy leather wheel is "classic."

Here's some red accents in interior FWIW:

Re: GTS Red on a 997

You're welcome. One more, until you "honed" your PS skills:

Re: GTS Red on a 997

kashmir: I can't believe you've managed to find one! I've been scouring the net for days without any results
Thanks a million, you've made my day

Ferdie You're giving me every reason not to work my PS skills! lol Thanks for the images

I don't know about price premiums in the US but here it costs around $2900 for a custom paint job compared to $2050 for a "special metallic" that include GT Silver and Atlas Grey amongst others.

From what I've seen (both rendered and real images) I think it's a good investment

MMD You're absolutely right about the red seat belts and stitching. But for the steering wheel, I just hate it when the leather ages and cracks up

I've got an E500 with a wooden s/w and it still feels great, even after almost 100k miles of abuse. My friend has barely half the mileage on his and the leather on his s/w is so badly deformed he's considering replacing it

Re: GTS Red on a 997

p_f: I take back what I said. I think the CF wheel is good. I kinda forgot it is _dark_ not like a wood or bright aluminum insert.

As far as leather Porsche uses? Nobody's complained about the wheel leather looking shabby after lots of use. Apparently not even the guys who get grey leather wheels complain.

WoooW! You're now tempting me to add more carbon with that interior shot! Is that your car?

I always had this in the back of my mind: When you go overboard with CF, it looses its luxury appeal. I've seen a 997.1 with all CF, and i MEAN all CF! For some reason that kindda backfired, making the car look cheap

I guess I'll add the basic CF pkg, CF s/w & CF rear console

I'll pass by the showroom and submit my order next week.. And then day dream on a daily basis until Jan/Feb (waiting for the PSE delivery batch )

Re: GTS Red on a 997

I like the CF interior for the same reason I like to wear swiss (or German) watches. You are surrounded by the refined machining, precision and the latest, technology; strapped to your wrist you take it with you. THAT's why it's fun to be surrounded by CF, IMO.

I didn't get it this time (not my car in pic above); next car will be loaded with CF.

Re: GTS Red on a 997

Couldn't agree more.. I usually go for sporty watches (steel with black or carbon dial) like the Omega Speedmaster or the Rolex GMT. They're simple yet classy..

    We have a saying:

"If it wasn't for the difference in tastes, merchandise would have expired"

It loses its effect in translation, but you get the idea

Well, I have grey leather steering wheels in both my 911s. I had to replace the leather on the steering wheel and on the side of the driver's seat in my 993 after around 150.000km. For that amount of kilometers that is pretty ok, the price is crazy, though. Leather replacement for the standard steering wheel is about the same than buying a completely new sports steering wheel including the airbag module. Nevertheless, it's one of the best things one can buy for his old 911
In the 997S I have the thicker steering wheel with fine leather. The fine leather becomes easily scratched and wears faster than the standard leather. So, it surely will not last as long as in the 993.

Re: GTS Red on a 997

Oops..., I should have said, since I lurk mostly on the 997 boards that _997_ wheel leather hasn't been plagued by a trend of complaints. Matter of fact even the guys with grey leather wheels say they hold up fine.

Would be interesting to do a poll on this at some point.
