    had to share

Found this on autoblog, a terrific pic of jim's car. Even after all the travel and all the miles it shines up pretty nice.

That design should have been the next 12 cyl. model, not the pedestrian stuff they have pumped out since the 512 TR.

Well, if their designs for the V12-models get softer and softer and more GT-ish all the time, I wouldn't mind if they use the above design for their next midengined-V8-model (even more as they've already presented a car like the California now).

What car is this? Concept or competition model?

    Re: had to share

The Owner of the car is James Glickenhaus. The base car is an Enzo.

It was a one off car for Mr Glickenhaus

    Re: had to share

On my way down to Carmel on thursday the P4/5 drove next to me in traffic for a while. I never cared for the cars looks in pictures but it was simply stunning in person!

    Re: had to share

I have to disagree with the first poster. This design should have been & hopefully will be along the lines of the Enzo's successor. This car is too exotic in looks & performance to be massed produced like the 512 or 599.

Ferrari may take their V12 line up & go in the direction of the V8. They have the flashy mid engine 430 along with the more practical front engine CaGT. They will probably keep the front engine V12s like the 599 which is practical in looks with extreme performance but they may produce a mid engine V12 line up with a little more flash.

Montezemolo said cars like the F50 & Enzo will never be massed produced like Diablos & Murcielagos. Exotic cars of that magnitude should be just that. Exotic, hard to find to buy & rarely seen on public roads.

    Re: had to share

Not that it matters much, i'm not a ferrari guy, but for discussion purposes and from the outside looking in...... ferrari used to be synonomous with exotic.

308's and TR's were this wild in the mid-80's (just as the 928 looks) The 400i handled "practical".

Then the 456 did practical and now the 612.

Why have 2 practical 12 cyl. models?

Mr. M is doing to ferrari what Mr. W is doing to Porsche. Making tons of dough while dumming down looks and upping production.

The california and 599 had to be warmed up to. The enzo is unlikeable. This design above is the best "ferrari" ever built, imo, the body looks like liquid trapped in a sheet.

I want to see some true exotics from these companies, let maserati build practical.

    just my opinion.

    Re: had to share

Well Frank Stephenson is no longer at Ferrari the guy who designed the 360 & the gentleman who headed the Enzo project won't be working on its successor.

I read somewhere that Ferrari will be getting back to a more "Italian" look. But remember these things take time. Drawing developement & actual testing of a new model. I know several people that feel the way you do & they have their fingers crossed about the 430s successor.

    Re: had to share

Ferrari have created a "Atelier" personalization where you can change everything except engine, wheelbase, windscreen, airbags and seat belts. the rest is up to the costumer as long as it,s done with one of the recognized ferrari designers (mainly pininfarina but zagato is also a possibility!). this is much like this P4/5 but the new ones will bear the ferrari badge!!
is only in the reach of a very privileged some but very exciting still, i think

    Re: had to share

    Exactly 1!

    Re: had to share

And he owns the designs, Ferrari cannot build another one without his permission.

Looking much better now, the first ones always reminded me of the chimneys of some ocean liners (especially because they were white).

Jim, did you only change the end pipes out of optical reasons or has there be an power improve and a bigger change?

As per various articles, here is one:

    http://www.nextautos.com/aftermarket/ferrari-p45-gets-a-touch-up/

The exhaust was changed for aerodynamic reasons.

Don't know why, but from this angle, the car reminds me of the Isdera Commendatore .
