Bye 997/911 Board - Hi Boxster Board

Hi to all my 997/911 friends here. I've loved my 2006 911 C4 since I got it back on 11/14/05. It's had its share of electrical (read computer) problems and it's been at the dealer for 3 weeks this last stint; "check engine". So, today I traded her for a Boxster hoping that I wouldn't have to keep making lemonade.

Congrats, Don!! Please post more pics of your sweet new "baby."

Lately, I've been thinking of how cool it would be to have a red P-car.

    Cheers!

    Hi Richard,
Thanks. I know I'm doing this backwards (trading a 911 for a Boxster) but life is sometimes backwards. I didn't want anyone to see this as a "dis" on the 911; sexiest looking car I've ever had! I do the deal this Wed., will post some pics and driving impressions.

I would love to hear the "pros and cons" of the 911 vs. Boxster. BTW is that the base Boxster?

    Don,
I am sure you will love your Boxter too....Let us know your new impressions ! And show us some of these gret photos you take

Re: Bye 997/911 Board - Hi Boxster Board

Thanks everyone, will gladly post some pics & impressions.
    Like my 911 C4, the Boxster isn't an "S".
I'm such a little kid, I called to see if I can pick it up today (Tue.), a day early. I can and I will!

Sounds like it was built by the same guys that threw my Honda Civic together. Just goes to show that even the best car makers can occasionally have a dud.

Anyway, it's good news for you because you are now driving a proper sports car....

You traded your 997 to a boxster?

Re: Bye 997/911 Board - Hi Boxster Board

    Hi Everyone,
Sorry, no comparo yet, have only been behind the Boxster wheel twice so far and one of those was the drive home from the dealer in the rain, Deal Motors in Asheville who treated me like gold I have to say. But I am enjoying her. Here's a pic taken in the driveway in full sun, top-down. After Seal Grey I'm liking Guards Red if just for the change.

Re: Bye 997/911 Board - Hi Boxster Board

    Hi,
I hope no-one complains about Boxster pics here but I am a former 911 owner.

I picked the hottest muggiest day in NC to wash the Boxster and then apply a coat of Rejex. The pic is the "after" pic.
I'm sure there are many here who could give a better comparo of both cars but here goes:
the 911 felt more like a $100,000 vehicle meaning it felt very good but also a bit heavy, in a good and a bad way,
the Boxster feels good too, a tiny bit "light" with things like top operation a bit on the "not as solid" feel if that makes any sense,
the Boxster is a better handling vehicle than my 911, this is becoming more & more apparent with each drive,
the BOSE sound system isn't worth what you pay for it, my 911 had it, the Boxster doesn't,
the engine/exhaust sound from the Boxster is simply wonderful, no compare, I had the stock exhaust on my 911,
the cabin feels a bit "tight" w/o the rear seats in the 911 but who uses them anyway,
it's nice to have lockable storage both front and rear in the Boxster,
compared to my 911 (non-S) my Boxster (also non-S) is slower but enough power (and great sound as already mentioned) and great handling that I'm not sure I'll miss the extra power, if you love speed and power I'd recommend the Boxster S or the 911/911S,
the 911 has nicer lines than the Boxster,
both inside materials and outside fit & finish seem equal to the 911.
More (and better pics) as I get more acclimated to the Boxster and after engine break-in.

Re: Bye 997/911 Board - Hi Boxster Board

    Hi All,
Gnil, thank you, of all the great photos of 911s posted here I enjoyed yours the most.

I just posted a few pics from my morning (obligatory) drive up on the Blue Ridge Parkway on the Boxster Board. Many you've seen before but the car is different.
