    Re: Car Done!!

DD is the only game in town, everybody else will just slap a pre-cut kit on it(bad).
Re radar, I have the v1, it alarms everywhere, if I was doing it again it would be the escort 9500 without a doubt.

the V1 comes from the factory with all bands turned on. you need to reprogram it and turn off X and even K band. the way to do it is not described in the manual, it is on the V1 website.
I have 3 units and programmed to catch Ka and laser only and they never false alarm.
without the reprogram the V1 is very annoying.

    Chris,
Don't know your area but in California you could turn off X band and it will drastically reduce the amount of false alarms. No cop in California uses X band anymore.

    Anthony,
I was going to turn off K band too but when I was in one of my "country" drives a cop was zapping me and K did go off.

Valentine One Radar Locator - Programmable Features

    Introduction and Instructions

Certain operational features of the Valentine One are programmable and may be modified by the user under special field conditions.

CAUTION! Modification of these operational features should be done with care since doing so will alter the full protection that the factory programming provides.

To enter the programming mode turn on the Valentine One wile pressing the Control Knob until all lights on the front panel are illuminated. (The Control Knob must be pressed for about 5 seconds at power up to enter the programming mode.)

To display your software version number, release and quickly press the Control Knob again momentarily. The 4 digit software version number will be shown one digit at a time on the Bogey Counter.

NOTE! User programmability is available only on units with software version of 2.680 or greater.

To gain access to the first user programmable feature, quickly press the Control Knob once again. (The Bogey Counter displays which programmable feature is being accessed 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, A, b, C, d, E, F, G, or H.)

The Ahead Arrow and Behind Arrow indicate the current setting of the programmable feature as described on the next page.

To change the current setting of the programmable feature, press and hold the Control Knob for about 3 seconds or until you see the direction arrow change from its current setting.

To step to the next programmable feature press the Control Knob quickly and you will see the next feature number appear on the Bogey Counter.

To exit the programming mode the Valentine One must be turned off.

The user programmable features are described below. (Go to web site for table.)

    Re: Car Done!!

    You are welcome.

Radar: Without a doubt, Valentine V1. Works as advertised. See this thread
    http://www.rennteam.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=458942&an=0&page=0#458942
for pictures of my self-installed V1. You have a cab right? I would ask Gregg (Stradale) how his Valentine is done.

Film: My first Porsche 997 I used the film; it was good but not 100% fool proof. My car was hit by a small pebble at high speed , and later a piece of cardboard, both large enough to go through to the paint. So to fix the damage I would have to repaint the bumper anyway, except now there is re-filming involved as well. Cost of painting is $600, cost of re-filming, $600, doubling the amount spent.
My second 997, the Turbo, I decided to go without the film. Within 3 months, I was calling the film guy! So, yes the Porsche bumper and front 1/3 of hood, and head lights, and mirrors DO accumulate little nicks that would be protected by the film.
I only have one third of the hood covered and am not bothered by it, but many others here go for the full hood, so YMMV on this issue.

Bluetooth: Some have reported echo problem with Dension. I am trying to decide between Dension and Tooki as well. I have not personally used either but am definitely "watching" with interest. I cannot rule out that some of these problems are phone related so maybe the only wait to choose is "live" audition with your actual phone. Dension does Ipod as well and that's another thing I am watching.

Kamal, Congrats, talked to dealer, car here next week.

Thanks Devo and Cannga about the advice on coverage - this is my first turbo (first Porsche too)

The Dealer has given me the name of a local installer they use and my partner who has several PC and Ferrari uses him - so I will too. Haven't talked to him yet, but will ask for whole hood based on what I am reading.

Cannga - have you followed the recent posts on the newer Dennison BTH? have you heard concerns?

Regarding radar - any built ins (hidden) worth looking at - or is V1 the way - this is going into a cab and worry about having the unit visible.

    Re: Car Done!!

    Thanks Cannga.

I will check out the V1.

Now the problem - no car yet.

The car is being held up for "inspection" and has not been released. What does this usually mean? It got into port (Baltimore) 10 days ago - hoped to be getting it now, but still hasn't been put in transit. Is this a sign of some damage that I should be looking for? Is this routine for some cars? Any info or insight???

    Re: Car Done!!

    Great car!

    Re: Car Done!!

Mine got to the port with yours and I have not heard anything concrete about when its going to get to the dealer either...the wait definitely isn't getting any easier.

    Re: Car Done!!

Word i got today is they are awaiting inspection as there was a hail storm in Germany and are looking at radiator and for "Hail damage". No word on when the inspection will be done, except is nearing end of fiscal year and they will want to get them out of port as that is considered not delivered.

Saw a 4S that was on same shipment that had no visible damage, so hopefull, but wait is frustrating and concerned as doubt they would hold so many cars without reason. I also doubt they would ship off damaged cars.?? Oh well, can't really do anything about in now.

Talking with dealer about clear bra (3M) and they are also suggesting a treatment to seal paint and make cleaning easier and minimize swirls etc.. forgot brand they are selling. Anyone know of the products and reccomendations on this?

    Re: Car Done!!

    AK997TT:
Stradale, I completely agree with you. My new 08 RS sat stowed away in the garage for 4 weeks while I waited for the best installers on the West Coast to wrap my car in VentureShield. I would not drive it until it was protected.

Wow - why cant these guys be in NJ!!! Smiley
