Yes, Mas Du Clos is a private circuit owned by noted Ferrari collector Pierre Bardinon. Supposed to really be a top-notch facility. If you've ever seen "Victory By Design" with Alain DeCadanet, he drives several of Bardinon's cars on the circuit including a flyer in the 312PB. SL Black is pretty impressive, but heavy...

i agree its not the lightest car but 1850 kg defintely is a huge step forward from the standard model. considering a sporty M3 weighs around 1650 kg one can imagine how the black series must go...

IMO every serious car person with multiple cars in his garage must have an example of this uberauto. I wish I could afford to have one to accompany my Porsche. Totally different ethos to Porsche but you cannot dismiss a good thing!
For me it is the most exciting M-B since the 190E 2.3-16 of the 80s. The 2.3-16 when it came out in 1984(?) was something very bold and different for Mercedes and it captured my imagination, just like this SL AMG Black(magic)now.

The comparison would surely be more appropriate with the corresponding CSL version of the M3, the weight savings on the BS come from the dismissal of essential components (retractable roof, automated rollbar, MF seats). Furthermore the weight balance will be equally bad as on the regular car.
Let's see how this car drives, from an aesthetical point of view I clearly prefer the CLK63 BS.
