Front license plate -drill or mount to tow hook?
Hey all, I live in a state where the front plate is "required." Options are to drill into the bumper at the usual location, and to mount a plate holder with the tow hook assembly.
If I decide to drill, then do I simply drill into the two pinholes with a drill bit appropriately sized to accept the screws, or do I need retaining hardware similar to what comes with drywall screws? I think I remember seeing a plastic license plate frame and two screws in the front trunk of my car.
If I decide to mount through the tow hook, then I do know of a place to get the custom hardware. Though before I would do that, does anybody know how the female tow hook assembly connects to the car itself (i.e. via the car's frame, subframe, or metal part of the bumper)? I ask because I wonder what would happen if another car were to "tap" the plate holder (e.g. in a parallel parking situation). ...Thanks!
