    Re: WANTED Carrera GT

What happened to the whines of "they made too many" and "the value would tank"?

ummm....I can only think of one such famous whiner.
and I'm surprised he hasn't commented on this thread yet.

    Re: WANTED Carrera GT

Hmmm, I thought the guy you're talking about absolutely loved the CGT. However, he might make some comments on the resale value ;-)
Maybe if we keep his thread a bit low profile, he won't notice it
    -Joost-

PS, sorry I answered, probably made this thread higher profile than desired...

    Re: WANTED Carrera GT

There are CGTs in the 350k range if the mileage is a little higher.

I know of a dealer that has a 1 owner car with only 100miles on it, selling for 450k - pristine.

EVERYTHING at manhattan motorcars is overpriced, yet they will always find buyers because wall st is so close.

I am only 15 blocks away, but I would never buy there, prices are 10-20% better in New Jersey or even Connecticut. Prices are also affected by the seasons here. Service is lacklusture at Manhattan motorcars as well...

Incidentally, the service at the 57th st BMW headquarters is the best I've ever had and the coffee machine is great fun while you are waiting.

    Re: WANTED Carrera GT

    From a longer quote made by a stradale owner that I have posted before but really like;

"my CS was humbled by the thunder of a CGT overtaking me"

best looking supercar, like a batmobile from the back, will end up a another porsche timeless classic

    Re: WANTED Carrera GT

OK I will bite. The reason why the CGT price has STABILIZED is because most of the US cars available for sale have gone to Europe. Porsche sent several and European buyers are buying those that are for sale in the US. As Moogle stated, several with high mileage can be had for less than $400,000.

Bottom line is but for Porsche interceding and the Euro strength compared to the dollar, more than likely the CGT would be below $300,000. It truly is a great car but has issues which most drivers would find deal breakers.

FWIW, in contrast, the ENZO is still selling substantially more than MSRP. Very expensive Porsche's just do not do well. Their bread and butter cars sell for less than $100,000. Buyers do not view Porsche as an exotic car.

You mean like GT1, 959, 993 GT2, and 993 Turbo S? Have you priced any of those?

Grant, I believe the 959 was limited to 300 cars and none were allowed in the US unless heavily modified. I believe the same can be said for the GT1. Also, the cars were produced years before the mass production mentally of present day Porsche.

I agree with Nick on this one, the Enzo regardless of the milage sells higher than MSRP. The problem is not with the GT but the multiple variations of the 911 and also the amount of cars produced.

    Re: WANTED Carrera GT

I have read on Ferrarichat.com that even the 21 year old F40 is still selling for $500,000 +,
Considering that more F40's were produced than CGT's the market shows how desirable Ferrari is.

    Re: WANTED Carrera GT

Old F-cars are fantastic to look at and own, but most people don't really use them that much unless they are going to a show or charity run. If you plan on driving an older Ferrari, make sure you have a good roadside assistance plan.

    Re: WANTED Carrera GT

LOL, finally Nick! Thought you were never going to bite! Glad to have you back man.

Buyers actually don't consider Ferrari to be an exotic car either. I could've bought a used 328 for the price I paid for my Boxster. I couldn't do that for true exotics like Lamborghini. It's not uncommon for me to see a Ferrari. Just saw one (360) a few days ago. On the other hand, I rarely see a Lambo or other exotics like Bentley, Mclaren, etc. Ferrari is not an exotic, unless you live in Kansas.
