Looks a lot better than the Audi A4 IMO..

Agreed, the A4 is elegant but
And unfortunately it looks like the new S4 will be just as as the rest of the A4 range

Here I must disagree big time!

First, A4 1.8TFSI is much better engine then either 318i or 320i. This 4 pot BMW engines are well known for Transit like throttle response and torque delivery...
Second, A4 2.0TFSI is again in class of its own 211hp/4300-6000rpm and 350Nm/1300-4300rm... Numbers speaks for itself, you will need 330i to get similar performance(and 330i likes more gasoline...)...
3.0TDI is much more drivable engine with manual then any 330d(way bigger turbo lag then in Audi)...

IMHO highlights in 3 series range are 335i and 320d. All other engines are nothing special, 335d included(only for autobox lovers).

Drive dynamics? A4 with FWD is the best FWD on the market but, RWD 3 series is better. BUT, for average driver 40/60 quattro is way better then any X drive BMW.

For me? A4/S4/A5/S5.... BMW 3 series? 335i Coupe or 320d sedan...

Ok, maybe that's not even lipstick.

I love BMW. It builds the best sport sedans on the planet. And, the 3er is the best sports sedan in its price range. In fact, Austin, TX agrees with me. It is overpopulated with 3ers. At anytime, any day, Austin could be confused with Munich. I see less Ford Foci!

But, why, why, why can't BMW make the rear of the 3er look less "OMG, I'm going to puke?" The 3er Coupe, in comparison, has a fantastic rear.

Why can't BMWs look more like Audi? The new A5/S5 is the sexiest car for under $50,000 (Let's exclude the Boxster to make my argument work). I pretty much drool every time I see one (And, I've only seen one on the road). Then, I drove one. The entire drive I kept wondering, "Why can't Audi make its cars drive like BMW?" Is it that hard to copy?

I'm starting a new car company: BMudi.

The M3 Sedan will get the new rearlights, no other changes to the M3 range as far as I know.

Meaning no new idrive for the M3?

    Kreso, Shakal

New idrive with 40gb space will be in all 3 series, including E92 and E93 .

I was talking about the looks of the A4, not the engines or performance.
Everytime I see a 3-series coupe I think "damn, that's a good looking car" and everytime I see a new A4 I think "damn, that's a dull looking car". Elegant yes, but as boring as an old Mondeo

But after falling asleep in class regarding engines (especially pollution) I agree that Audi has stepped up to the plate as they say on The Apprentice.
Especially the new 2.0 TFSI engine looks interesting, but can any of them return 60 mpg and 123 g/km of CO2?
    (see my next post)

    Re: Official: BMW 3-series facelift

Here are all the engine specs for the facelift, diesel technology keeps moving forward, the new (single-turbo) engine in the 330d has now more or less caught up with the twin-turbo 335d engine, at least on paper. Very impressive.

    From CAR:
    Quote:
The 330d gains a new 3.0-litre straight six, mustering 245bhp and Euro 5 compliant know-how. It slots into a five-diesel and five-petrol line-up - and every one now includes Efficient Dynamics.

Look out also for the M3's seven-speed twin-clutch gearbox, that's now moved sideways onto the 335i coupe and convertible. It comes complete with paddles for finger-flicking fun as you nudge up and down the gearbox.

The full engine choice is as follows:

    335i: 306bhp/295lb ft 3.0-litre six-cyl DI twin-turbo, 5.6sec, 155mph, 31.0mpg, 218g/km
    330i: 272bhp/236lb ft 3.0-litre six-cyl DI, 6.1sec, 155mph, 39.2mpg, 173g/km
    325i: 218bhp/199lb ft 3.0-litre six-cyl DI, 6.7sec, 155mph, 40.0mpg, 170g/km
    320i: 170bhp/155lb ft 2.0-litre four-cyl DI, 8.2sec, 142mph, 46.3mpg, 146g/km
    318i: 143bhp/140lb ft 2.0-litre four-cyl DI, 9.1sec, 130mph, 47.9mpg, 142g/km

    335d: 286bhp/428lb ft 3.0-litre six-cyl TDI twin-turbo, 6.0sec, 155mph, 42.2mpg, 177g/km
    330d: 245bhp/384lb ft 3.0-litre six-cyl TDI turbo, 6.1sec, 155mph, 49.6mpg, 152g/km
    325d: 197bhp/295lb ft 3.0-litre six-cyl TDI turbo, 7.4sec, 146mph, 49.6mpg, 153g/km
    320d: 177bhp/258lb ft 2.0-litre four-cyl TDI turbo, 7.9sec, 143mph, 58.9mpg, 128g/km
    318d: 143bhp/221lb ft 2.0-litre four-cyl TDI turbo, 9.3sec, 130mph, 60.1mpg, 123g/km

Whatever you think about BMW, you can't deny there are some pretty impressive outputs here. Just think about it: 60mpg and 123g/km in a compact executive? Expect to see plenty more poverty-spec 3-series on the company car choice lists some time soon...

    Re: Official: BMW 3-series facelift

Interesting, I quite like the FL... Kreso has a point about the engines though.
