    Guys, I have written a full report (with photos) on my subjective impressions of the Mk2 997 (and in particular PDK) at the PDE held on 8 July 2008 on this thread:

    Precisely, given that the manual is half a second faster in exercises like 80-120km/h, I am not sure that we need to be such a experienced driver to beat the PDK version. Not speaking in terms of how fast gears can be changed, but in overall performances. In that respect, it would be interesting to see how the manual and PDK compare in a track lap.

    Is it clear if these exercises are manual vs PDK in auto,or manual vs PDK in "manual" mode?
    Second, a fairer and truer comparison would be a lap time on a circuit or timing a distance on demanding public road with many bends that you need to change up and down numerous timesand there we shall be able to see if time is gained or lost by using either system. Personally, I find these set timings (even the 0-100km in which PDK is faster) somewhat artificial and although indicative, of limited value in real world driving.

    I dont think so. It's very similiar to the tip w/ buttons on the steering wheel & I cant stand that & have never been able to get comfortable w/ it. If you've ever owned a car w/ paddles on the steering column like an F430 you'd know what I'm referring to. shift buttons on the steering wheel just doesnt compare.

    I don't know about the F430 but I drive a VW with DSG with right + and left - and I cannot say that it is better or worse than the PDK system.

    The new buttons are much much better and more natural than the old tip. Because, for -minus you don't have to press the lower part of the button like in tip but you pull the rear upper part from behind which is more convenient and ergonomic. Moreover, I found that the facility of using the stick very convenient too which is absent from some syastems. In some situations when you want to change down with the wheel turned, you just flick the stick which is quick and easy.
