    Gaggle of 599s for sale....

...or whatever a large group of Ferrari are called! Noticed that DuPont Registry has an amazing (to me) 22 599GTBs for sale in the US. Most don't quote asking price; the ones that do range $400-490k, none over 3000 miles or so.

For those more in the know... is this a normal quick flip volume for a new Ferrari, or is it a bit more than normal due to US economic conditions?

Re: Gaggle of 599s for sale....

Things work a little differently here in Australia. Friend traded his 6 month old 599 on another car, and lost almost 20% of his purchase price.

Re: Gaggle of 599s for sale....

US Econ conditions. You had a bunch of paper millionaires who are finding their Ferrari more and more expensive to keep, so why not sell it and make a little profit in the meantime.

Re: Gaggle of 599s for sale....

In Japan there is only a 6 - 8 month wait for a new car! Was 4 years this time last year! Apparently there have been 187 cancellations for the 599 in the last couple of months - the first time in the history of Ferrari in Japan that there have been so many cancellations! And to make it worse, the poor guys who paid $150K premiums a year ago can't even get list for nearly new cars!!

Re: Gaggle of 599s for sale....

It's mostly the new money that is flooding the market. They got killed in the mortgage and stock market debacles. 430 is getting hurt too but not as much as the 599. This is probably because the owners are realizing that besides the latest technology (which will be outdated in a year or two), there is nothing special about the 599 and it looks rather ugly (esp. when it is depreciating as quickly as it is.)

Seems as if the 599 is heading in the same direction as all the other Ferrari-V12-GT before.

Exactly. 599 is a great car to drive and Ferrari's technology like F1 Superfast, F1-Trac and magnetorheological suspension are working perfectly. And the Enzo-V12 is a hell of an engine, no doubt about it.

But when it comes to looks, the 599 doesn't stand a chance against a car like the 575M and we are not even talking about a Testarossa or a 512 BBi here.

This is what I think it is. Owner's are panicking that things will head south quick. Kind of like a stock ready to tank.

Yes, this is where my mind was going too... I have great respect for the V8 F-cars but somehow I have a real soft spot for the classic GT-ness of the Maranello series. And a nice 575M can be found easily for 1/4 the price of the 599s I mentioned in my OP. Hard to justify the extra $300,000 for the tech goodies in the 599 in what is still a refined GT car... and the Maranellos are true classics in styling.

Re: Gaggle of 599s for sale....

My neighbor picked up a silver 456 in MINT condition!
Such a classic car.. and the best thing, most won't even realize it's a ferrari! On top of that i the excellent quality of the interior and the huge space... plus it has a trunk and a big big engine

I would like Ferrari to make a car in style similar to the Testarossa.
