    997 Turbo MY2009

    NO mechanical changes.

New exterior colors just like the one on FL Carrera models.

New NAVI with HDD standard. New PCM as well.

    Interesting new options:

    693 CD/DVD Changer
    870 IPOD/USB connection
676 TV Tuner(for those who likes it...)

PASM retuned(confirmed from very reliable source but, no official claim from P.).

If you want truly excellent car with amazing engine order NOW. FL will feature some mechancial changes...

    Re: 997 Turbo MY2009

You say no mechanical changes then you say some mechanical changes. Make up your mind dude!

Sorry: I mis-read; I though it said 2009 Turbo (not MY09) ie. facelift.

    Re: 997 Turbo MY2009

Would very interested in the new PASM settings and whether we can upload them to pre 09 cars..

NO, you can not retune the PASM on pre 09 cars. BTW, this info about retuned PASM is very "below" surface...

    Re: 997 Turbo MY2009

What's the point of Porsche switching to an electronic setup for it's suspension control if you can't reprogramme older releases?!

Suppose the only solution for the rest of us is Bilstein + realignment.

You own the Porsche but, you seems to do not understand the way Porsche(PAG) thinks and acts...

    P. hates tuners and tuning of their cars. That is the fact. Then, there needs to be some reason for buying new MY...

If you are happy with suspension on your car why bother?
If you are not happy then there is some aftermarket solution...

You refer to the switch to non GT1 engines, right?

    Just this...

    Re: 997 Turbo MY2009

    grazie,very precise news

    Re: 997 Turbo MY2009

    I'm glad I spent us$2K+ on a black leather-covered PCM.

Well, you get the black colour a bit cheaper now...

    Re: 997 Turbo MY2009

Yea, but the base price and several options have gone up.

    Re: 997 Turbo MY2009

LOL. This is ALL insane, you guys know that, right?

Next time any Porsche guy criticizes his wife and/or girlfriend for her purchase of extravagantly expensive shoes that guy should be ashamed.

Unfortunately, they made sure that the "PCM in leather" option will still be in strong demand... The new plastic part looks really cheap. Maybe even cheaper than the previous one in volcano grey. Saw the new PCM two weeks ago

BTW, the PCM in leather option is not yet available. If we are lucky the option will be available by fall/end of year.

    Re: 997 Turbo MY2009

    Markus,
PCM in leather may not be available at all. Did you saw that way new PCM looks? Specially CD/DVD slot? I heard that it is very, very hard to cover this design with leather...

    Re: 997 Turbo MY2009

Well..., at least the Volcano Grey is GONE!

    Re: 997 Turbo MY2009

Gone from PCM... BUT, it is covering large part of PDK steering wheel...

If you really want a centre console with a prominent navi screen, then it should look something like this:

Just one thing-did you saw the switch on the left side(below round lights switch)

Electronic parking brake... Hello Audi... Since AC is also similar to R8's AC...

Yeah, I've noticed that already. In the middle there is no conventional parking brake either. I'm absolutely no fan of the electronic parking brake, in fact for me that is one of the most useless "inventions" in car history. Really a shame, also Ferrari goes that way...

So true. Just have a look at that pic: such a mix of different colours and materials in the new interior, just too much for my taste...

    Re: 997 Turbo MY2009

    Agree.

I just looked at new MY09 997 Turbo price list and Piano Black interior options seems to be a good match with new Black PCM. Choose Paino Black options with Leather Adaptive sportseats backs and alu Y trim on MF steering wheeel and you will get interior in good harmony without Vulcano Grey plastic... Only one problem with PDK that is not possible since all PDK steering wheels are covered with a lot of Vulcano Grey....

Right as well. And if I remember correctly (from the 997.2 price list) those piano black options are rather expensive as well.

For the "new" interior of the 997 facelift I would admit the following: keep it simple. Go with all black full leather interior and the mix of colours will look the best.

    Re: 997 Turbo MY2009

    KresoF1,
Thank you. You always seem to be first with breaking news that's useful.

    Re: 997 Turbo MY2009

Sighed & agreed. This looks awful; so many colors. I wish PAG would contract out the interior design to Ferrari.
Isn't Ferrari interior widely acknowledged to be among the most beautiful? If so, what's so hard about looking at what Ferrari is doing and try to be similar? Kidding, kidding. Ok, HALF kidding.

The looks without leather are not too nice...

There will be a PCM leather option. It is confirmed already

    Re: 997 Turbo MY2009

Yes, it will. Earliest December 2008 production...

    Re: 997 Turbo MY2009

Unless the driver were a Supermodel, if an ordinary person were to pick me up at airport driving this car I would have to get a cab.

No kidding. Nice bumpy cramped crappy flight followed by a high-G spirited ride in THIS color: serious headache and/or lunch ejection.

At least the Supermodel would be feeling guilty, holding my head, hugging me and feeding me water and aspirin.

According to the Porsche engine development guy (I think it was on Drivers Republic) the new FL engine is much stronger than the GT1 based engine. The new engines have nothing to do with the 997.1 engines; in other words they are not the old engines with just DI. So, if we believe him the GT1 engines that had their beginnings in the 80s are old history now and the new 2008+ engines are the future both for NA and Turbo.
It is oxymoron to say the least, to believe in the enginering of Porsche products and yet rely solely on an ancient engine.

We'll see how strong those engines are as soon as RS Tuning gets its hands on one...
