    Have anyone use a larini exhaust in Aston Martin

    I have ordered a MY09 Aston Martin V8 Vantage and considering to install a Larini Sport Rear Box. But I am not sure if there is any warning light issue. Since I had Larini sport cat and exhaust in my Gallardo, sometimes the CAT 1-5 warning light is on.

    Hi Chris, have you tried just removing Fuse 22 first? I like the way mine sound from the factory minus fuse 22. But then again I have never heard the Larini. With the warning light issue, is it possible to get a O2 simulator created to fool the ECU into thinking you have the proper cat?

    Hi Way, thanks for your information.

    I am considering Larini is not only because of the sound but also it will has an extra 58bhp. So the Vantage can comes up with 478bhp.

    If you believe an exhaust will give you 58hp when the factory can only muster 40hp by enlarging the engine, then I have a prime beach front property in Switzerland for you. Btw, just by buying the home it will gives you and extra 5hp for your car.

    Well, I just quote what they mentioned. I have no idea how much horse power will actually gain, but I guess there will be some.

    However, the sound is more important than the extra horse power. But one thing I can tell there is a significant improvement in throttle response.

    58 Hp - they are full of [beep]! I wouldn't buy it just on the fact that they had the balls to make a ri-donk-ulous claim such as that.

    Since you're worried about sound more than power, the Fuse 22 trick I've read about on AMOC.org. It basically uncorks the flappers.

    Quicksilver I heard makes a good exhaust.

    I'm sure that paired with some 200 cell sport cats would give you good sound and performance.

    Chris I believe you are referring to that thread on AMOC that claims that gain.

    From MY08-MY09, Aston gained power by increasing displacement 10% and that only yielded 40hp.


    I believe that individual is dealing with Miller Motorcars in Greenwich, CT - I've had a lot of experience with dealers in that town of various makes. The high end ones will make outrageous claims that are mostly unsubstantiated in order to part the rich and foolish from their monies.

    I am not saying this is definitely one of those situations, but as has been mentioned above, it is incredibly difficult to get that much horsepower from an engine without some REAL mods. Especially a naturally aspirated engine, and especially one already high strung.

    As a rule of thumb, most performance exhuasts will compromise low/high end torque/power to provide slighty gain at the opposite end, it is never a win win situation. The most important thing is to just choose a muffler that provides the best sound without resonance and that claims a modest, but provable and dependable gain.

    Finally, I am not a fan of the Fuse22 method of late model Astons, engine problems have been sporadically reported. It is better to go for a quiksilver/tubi muffler (those are my choices) - or what ever reputable make provides your favourite sound - and be done with it. Don't expect TOO much.

    PS. I am getting an 09 Vantage also! I will be keeping mine in NYC - I am 99% here now, although I miss HK dearly!

    Vantage in NYC. Yikes, that should be painfully, fun. Drive slow until you get out the city.

    I grew up in NYC and it's funny now that I look back at it. When I got my first car (used 85 Pontiac Grand Prix) my insurance premium was MORE than what I paid for the car
