    911 Turbo / Hamann Stallion

Until the launch of the 530hp GT2, the Porsche 911 Turbo was the most powerful 911 on the market with 480hp but the goodfellas at Hamann have set out to put the Turbo model back in its place at the top of the scale with the Hamann Stallion boasting a total power output of 630hp.

The Hamann engineers set to work on the 3.6-liter Biturbo engine with a new stainless steel exhaust system with metal catalytic converters, sports air strainer and new motor managementm but the cream of the crop is the two larger variable nozzle turbochargers(VNC).

Hamann have thrown the book at the aerodynamic aspects of the vehicle for the ultimate performance in which the roofline has been been expensively lowered with the pillars and windows reduced by up to 8cm. Additional road grip is further enhanced with the road hugging body kit featuring the unmissable huge rear wing and 20inch three-part aluminium wheels.

The performance upgrades result in an impressive 0-60mph time of 3.3seconds knocking sixth tenths of a second off the time of the regular model, maximum speed now stands at 359km/h(224mph). It will be interesting what Hamann can do with this machine once Porsche's new double-clutch PDK system enters the Turbo.

Re: 911 Turbo / Hamann Stallion

Ugly. Give me a black Gemballa GT550 over this. Anytime.

Re: 911 Turbo / Hamann Stallion

i have this sudden urge to puke right now.........

Re: 911 Turbo / Hamann Stallion

That is easily the least cohesive looking package to date on a 997tt

Re: 911 Turbo / Hamann Stallion

So I guess if they have lowered the roof then it's not really a viable upgrade option for most people!

If the car didn't have all the C/F and odd art-work on the outside then I think it would actually look ok

...with those doors though the car would be a total pig to get out of when parked in your garage! Impossible in mine.

Re: 911 Turbo / Hamann Stallion

paging mr. poseur ...boy thats one ugly car

Re: 911 Turbo / Hamann Stallion

My god, why dont they just spend time on the 630HP and then LEAVE IT!

This ruins the whole car... looks ricer.. how many fake intakes are there... Roof scoop? really? common man... it's not a Honda.. or Nissan GTR for that matter

Re: 911 Turbo / Hamann Stallion

Saw this car at Essen sans that ridiculous roof intake, it actually looked awesome with the chopped roof making the car looked more hunckered. They said they were going to take it to the windtunnel to get some data on the Cd/CdA improvements. I wonder if that ever happened ?

BTW......WTF are "variable nozzel turbos" thought deisels had these ?

Are these not two different things tho' - one system altering the compressor turbine blade angulation and the other system varying the diameter of the outlet nozzle ?

Not sure, but I don't think the angle of the blades actually changes, does it? It has something to do with the vanes changing the airflow, I believe . Of course I could be mistaken .

Re: 911 Turbo / Hamann Stallion

    From this site http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/coupes/112_0606_2007_porsche_997_photos/vtg_turbocharger.html
It seems the angle of the blades changes in order to change the size of the vane opening?

Re: 911 Turbo / Hamann Stallion

This is how I understood the Porsche VVTs, the base of the compressor vanes are not fixed and r made to precisely swivel altering the AR of the turbo - this is different from the variable nozzle which (I guess) shrinks the exit diameter from the compressor to alter the velocity of boost air
