Gearbox is very, very personal choice on R8. IMHO R Tronic is just compromised average quality sequential manual. Gated manual is compromise as well. R8 deserved better DCT like gearbox just it will not happened...

R Tronic is total pain-in-the-ass for parking garages since gearbox electronic is programmed by total moron. Can you imagine it, R Tronic alwasy think that you want to start fast, even at parking space. When parking your R Tronic R8 you need to hang on the brake paddle all the time. Annoying as possible IMO...
For fast driving R Tronic is not bad at all but, still it is far from perfect solution, at least for me.
If you know how to drive gated manual(and can live with clicking sound) choose manual. Otherwise you are sticked with R Tronic.
Even people who tried LP560-4 e-gear claim that it is still very far from F1 Superfast in 430 Scuderia(the best sequential manual on the market IMHO).
One other thing for R Tronic price you can get R8 manual with Ceramic brakes...
