    coupe vs cab

Just about to pull the trigger on a 09 TT ....trying to decide coupe vs cab .... pros/cons ?? Others go through the same decision.

    Coming from a 05 997s coupe (sold)

    Thx in advance

    Re: coupe vs cab

cab is great. however for turbo i'd personally always go for coupe....and i did....

    Re: coupe vs cab

    Hi.
Maybe this pic of my car can help you with your decision...

    Re: coupe vs cab

I have a coupe. My dealer traded a cab allocation for a coupe for me back when cabs were difficult to get. I don't care for the lines of the cab when the roof is up.

    Re: coupe vs cab

Was a thread a few weeks ago on 997 board.

Covered the _whole_ topic. IMO, get cab if you live in very nice sunny place.

    Search some and find.

    This is an older thread:

Can you please repost your pic, and put up more shots/angles, thanks

I am leaning towards a cab, since I mostly see coupes everywhere.

    Re: coupe vs cab

I had a cab (non turbo) and now a turbo coupe...there is no question in my mind that this car is way better as a coupe. I then bought another convertible for the days I am dying for the sun on the bald head!

Take the money you save on the cab and buy a used S2000 or something...just my 2 cents...

    Re: coupe vs cab

here's some stuff to think about:

    Re: coupe vs cab

Coupe is my vote - I prefer the look and there was a blind spot in the cab for me (when you back out of parking spaces, etc - see back side window differences).

    Re: coupe vs cab

I prefer the coupe. They look quite different, IMHO.

    Re: coupe vs cab

One thing I don't like when I drive my 986S? People staring at you because the top is down. Not that I'm on "America's Most Wanted," but something to think about. I just don't like to attract attention from people on the street.

On another dimension people in __your__ area might resent "rich guys" who drive around in flashy Porsches.

    Re: coupe vs cab

Coupe. I like the lines a lot better. If I wanted a drop top, I'd have a Boxster or S2000 or Miata. Or a CLK. Or a 430 Spider

    Re: coupe vs cab

    Hiya JP66.
Sorry everyone about the oversized way I posted my pic.
I love how, with the top down, the sleekness of the lines are actually emphasized

    Re: coupe vs cab

Sorry again, I am having problems resizing pics to fit the ideal format for posting.
It is true that with the top down, you do get a lot more attention. The car seems even lower .Putting the top down as you are driving away is also an attention graber.
With the wind deflector and the windows up, you can drive pretty fast and barely get your hair ruffled.
I believe the open air experience allows you enjoy drives in the country so much more
In my opinion the cab is a little less about sheer performance and more about cruising along: with the occasional burst of speed" oh what a rush" thrown in for good measure.

    Here's another open air pic...

I agree. Funny enough the current suspension setup of the 997 TT Cab is more appropriate even for track use, posting better laptimes e.g. on Hockenheim Short track performed by SportAuto. If one lives in the appropriate climate and rarely considers to track the car, the convertible should b considered but should be down to personal preference.

The suspension set-up of the cab is an improvement over that of the early coupes and have been subsequently carried on on the whole 997tt range if I am not mistaken, so logically the coupe in its current configuration would be faster than its soft top counterpart.

Update 997tt coupe laps the ring in 7.52 compared with the initial time of 7.54 according to Sport Auto.

    Re: coupe vs cab

Buy a coupe. I always prefered the lines of it.
Now if you live in a sunny place and you are not a person that likes to drive fast or do track some times then maybe the cab is good for you..But I would always look at the line of the roof of my car and regret the lines of the coupe....its just the way it is...

To be honest I thought about selling my C2S to buy a new cab. At the end and with the depreciation on the old model I thought about keeping my brand new 07 C2S artic silver and cocoa LSD sports susp. and buy latter a 1985-9 Sl mercedes just for the cab side of it...

    Re: coupe vs cab

Went from 911 coupes to Cabs & never looked back, there's just no comparison on the FUN FACTOR & that's what these cars are all about right?
It really depends on what you like, for me there's just nothing like the feel of the convert. Turbo.
Plus IMO the Turbo Cab looks so much cooler top down than the Coupe.
But if it's the lines you're after buy a Ferrari anyway.

The Turbo Cab is like having all these different cars/feels wrapped up into 1 package, just depends on your mood & the weather.

Here's an article that may help you.

coupe....just like the simplicity of the lines/materials better...and really dont use the convertible top that much on the one i do have...highly personal, great thing you cant go wrong either way.
