Had a crash in my 944 Race Car
Raced on the weekend at Calder Park (Australia). Its a horrible track for circuit racing because they do drag racing on it, and when it rains, the main straight is like ice! In the second race I thought I had stalled, cause i didn't go anwhere, then just realised my wheels were spinning! So as i went over start/finish line i was dead last, but after 5 laps, had climbed about 10 spots (i think) up to 9th. on the last corner of the race, i came onto the straight, and with the end in sight (ie 500m) the car stepped out and spun (down the straight between the two concrete walls). I'm still not sure if i got tapped, or its was my own fault....but everying was going to be ok...and just as i was coming to a stop (about 100m from finish), the car that was behind me, clipped the front of my car and tore off the nose with his right hand side of the car!!!??? He could have easily got around me...if he hadn't have kept his foot in to the accelerator!
Was able to tape, tie the front panels back on (though the front rails, forward of the suspension towers were bent) and got out for race 3 and 4. But didn't do any great times for the rest of the day. In the last race, the same guy that crashed into me, had another incendent with me! He came off the racing line by a large maring into the marbles on turn one and then speared straight into the front of my car again (where it was already damaaged!). he had a brand new car for that weekend, and i think i hit almost every panel on his car....all due to his fault! I'm sure he doesn't care, cause he is just "learning" in our series before he gets to drive his 997 Cup car.
So i have a damage bill now....not too big, but still big enough to hurt. I think i need a sponsor! anyone in Australia want to help? We are doing the Nationals series at Oran park (Aug 08) which will be on TV, and also Bathurst in Feb 09.
