997 mkII order - let the waiting begin...

This is my order at the moment - very dull as it will be indistinguishable from my current car to all be a few. After thinking long and hard about colours I've stuck with Bassalt Black with Black leather - yawn yawn...although the factory has agreed to let me have my guards red seatbelts which are officially not yet available. I think I'll add the Bose sounds and switch the regular sports seats for the adaptive ones, in for a penny...

Its August build so I should have it by the beginnig of September, if the world hasn't self destructed by then.

Re: 997 mkII order - let the waiting begin...

Very similar option set to me - no rear wiper or parking sensor for me though to keep a cleaner line. What about the Sport PASM with -20mm and LSD I think this is a must??

Re: 997 mkII order - let the waiting begin...

I thought about the Sport PASM but decided that in reality I was giong to spend most of my life in this city crawling along at 10 mph and going over an increasing number of speed bumps on my way to work so whilst I'd love it on those 2 days a year when I get to open it up, it was comfort the rest of the time that won over. As for the parking sensors and wiper, I can't park anything without sensors these days and I actually don't think the wiper ruins the line as I'm so used to it being a feature on 911s over the years. I only wish they'd make it truly useful and add a washer as well.

    When's yours due Mex?

Re: 997 mkII order - let the waiting begin...

Sounds like a well thought out rational - mine's due 1st September!! Will be at the dealer mid/late Aug.

Re: 997 mkII order - let the waiting begin...

    No ventilated seats?

Re: 997 mkII order - let the waiting begin...

Senator, curious as to the depreciation hit you will take to trade an '08 C4S for the '09? I would consider trading my '08 C4S just for the PDK, but am concerned about the depreciation hit.

Re: 997 mkII order - let the waiting begin...

I'm curious too - my guess is Pounds20K hit?

Re: 997 mkII order - let the waiting begin...

You can order wheel spacers now? Is that front and back?

Re: 997 mkII order - let the waiting begin...

I'm not sure I want to talk about the hit but if I get away with Pounds20k I think I'll be doing ok. My problem is that I had a tiptronic which I really didn't enjoy but I remembered why I had it for driving in London now I have the 6 spd manual.

I was waiting and waiting for the PDK but just got frustrated. As for the spacers, the factory has let me have some exclusive options despite them not being officially available at the moment. I guess its the simple things like the 5mm spacers and the red seatbelts. I couldn't have some of the interior trim pieces I usually go for such as the leather centre column.

Bottom line is that I've gone from a C4S to a C2S and cut some of the options so it will be something like Pounds10k for the trade which isn't the end of the world if the PDK is what I hope it is.

Re: 997 mkII order - let the waiting begin...

Senator, thanks for your feedback, as I am sure a number of '08 owners are considering an '09. For me, I don't mind the 6 speed in city traffic as long as forward progress is not two feet at a time over several kms., but the PDK sounds like a great compromise solution. By the way, I would also take the ventilated seats too (it is hot here in the summer), but it looks like you have a great order! Best wishes!

Re: 997 mkII order - let the waiting begin...

If any consolation I wont buy an '08 Tip without a Pounds20k+ reduction to list, and I have said that to a few shocked dealers! the MY09 offers so much more as a well rounded proposition for daily and fun use.

Re: 997 mkII order - let the waiting begin...

    Mine's not a tip its a manual!
