What did your old CGT get to on the same strip Toby?
"Nick" is the owner ? I've no idea if he was annoyed, I wasn't there.
You have to remember 185mph is still a very high top speed especially since there is a very limited stopping area.
I am purely interested in the tuner hp claims vs top speed for which there is loads of data now for this venue. An X50 996tt with 450PS also did 185mph but this GT2 bodied 997tt will have a CdA of around 0.66 compared with 0.62 for the 996tt.
The 23 DegC of the day seemed to be affecting a lot of the speeds with the Rt12 at 202mph being 9mph down on its best speed here.
With 23 DegC a "non" conservatively tuned tt could have air intake temps at up to 70DegC which will pull timing by ~6 degrees which is enough to chop 80-100hp off optimum - this may be what Shavster's experienced ?
My CGT would run 193mph, no more, with its CdA of 0.768 but major drag induced by the downforce. You prob saw the video against the Rt12 - checkout how the CGT runs into an aero brick wall at about 180mph and the Rt12 charges by
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ae2PAOMBSZ8and another in car (CGT)(don't mention the fluffed 2nd/3rd shift
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czwXwGER7DoWe did a coastdown test from 295kph to calculate the drag on my uniquely set up 993tt and it came in at CdA 0.72 so it is a bit of a brick
but it manages about 194mph on this length of runway, it is right about on the limiter there anyway so it is actually its vmax !
