    I don't think there is a difference (?)

There is. There was however none between the 996TT and 996GT2.

Can you see the differences? It's flared

    OEM rocker skirt

Re: GT2 looks but still enough room for the kids!

Thanks for the comparo pics Jason!
We're talking about the part that is blue in pic one, and black in pic 2, aren't we?
I see a little difference, there is a line going from the lower frontside, to the upper rear side, kind of like the skirts of the 996 GT3 mk1. Is that what you mean?
    Thanks for helping out,
    -Joost-

Re: GT2 looks but still enough room for the kids!

    Here's a better close up

Very subtle but it really transforms the look of my car.

Re: GT2 looks but still enough room for the kids!

Thanks Jason! It's clear to me now.

Re: GT2 looks but still enough room for the kids!

Very nice work! How difficult was it to fit the GT2 front spoiler on a turbo?

Re: GT2 looks but still enough room for the kids!

Just thought I would drag this up....

The claimed 600hp GT2 look alike managed 185mph at recent airstrip run "vmax" which is rolling start and maximum speed after 1.6miles.

OK the GT2 spoilers are going to drag quite a bit more than a stock 997tt but this speed is more like 470hp - It was 23 degC, sounds like a heat soak special to me

    Was Nick annoyed?

What did your old CGT get to on the same strip Toby?

"Nick" is the owner ? I've no idea if he was annoyed, I wasn't there.

You have to remember 185mph is still a very high top speed especially since there is a very limited stopping area.

I am purely interested in the tuner hp claims vs top speed for which there is loads of data now for this venue. An X50 996tt with 450PS also did 185mph but this GT2 bodied 997tt will have a CdA of around 0.66 compared with 0.62 for the 996tt.
The 23 DegC of the day seemed to be affecting a lot of the speeds with the Rt12 at 202mph being 9mph down on its best speed here.
With 23 DegC a "non" conservatively tuned tt could have air intake temps at up to 70DegC which will pull timing by ~6 degrees which is enough to chop 80-100hp off optimum - this may be what Shavster's experienced ?

My CGT would run 193mph, no more, with its CdA of 0.768 but major drag induced by the downforce. You prob saw the video against the Rt12 - checkout how the CGT runs into an aero brick wall at about 180mph and the Rt12 charges by
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ae2PAOMBSZ8
and another in car (CGT)(don't mention the fluffed 2nd/3rd shift
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czwXwGER7Do

We did a coastdown test from 295kph to calculate the drag on my uniquely set up 993tt and it came in at CdA 0.72 so it is a bit of a brick but it manages about 194mph on this length of runway, it is right about on the limiter there anyway so it is actually its vmax !

    Hello every one,

So to clear up a couple of things.... Firstly I currently have a issue with the car which means that the boost wont go above 1.0 bar beyond 4000 rpm and then drops conciderably. This is being looked at as I type. This effectively meant i was running near to stock power and with the heat drain probably below.

Secondly my rev limit it stock so even if i was boosting 1.4 bar with the hybrid turbos i would only be going as fast as stock car's vmax.

Thirdly I have to admit i was more than a little scared going at these speeds. With the sight of the end of the runway looming I found it difficult to keep the power on through the speed traps.

I had a great day and will try to push myself harder next time

Kudos for telling us about problems, very many people gloss over problems with tuners wares and IMO it is a very important issue which one should take into account when assessing....

The top speed for the 997tt should be around 205mph if it revs to 7K , if you have real 600hp then you should get close to that on the 1.6 mile run in a 997tt although your GT2 appendages would probably "drag" you back to high 190s...The Techart GT Street (which CdA 0.68 compared to GT2 0.66) managed 194mph on that same runway....

I agree entirely what you say about those speeds with the limited stopping area, we sometimes joke about "Lemmings" since the danger is very real - just take it carefully

One other point worth mentioning is that my GT2 nose still has not had the air ducts fitted (waiting for some parts) so the 180+ mph wind hitting the front was not getting routed where it should, TBH not sure if that's a help or hindrance

Also I have to say re the issues I'm having that DMS in the UK are bending over backwards to help me out, I really cant speak more highly of the service they have given me. TBH I don't think the car was running correctly even before I started tuning it.
