    gauge face swap Silver for black

    Am now coming up on 2 weeks with my new Targa 4S. Was going to order 09' but found one optioned so well and working the "new model coming out" and end of the month sales pitch took it home May 31st so discounted I couldn't pass it up. It's GT Silver, full black leather with silver contrasting stitching on everything. The differance between silver and the grey stock stitching is subtle but really works with this car. I put factory GT3RS wheels on it and am happy with the look. The only thing I do not like are the silver "S" gauges. I prefer the black ones and would have ordered it that way. Dealer tells me I must order entire instrument cluster in black and swap them $2500 part alone. Gauge face swaps happen all the time, but perhaps pre 997 only? Anyone out there with info I'd appreciate it. Thanks

    Can't help you I'm afraid but I do agree with changing the clock faces from white/silver to black. I wish I'd listened to myself and not a few friends when I spec'd mine up.

    There are companies that can do this for you, by painting the clock faces. I know that sounds awful but they do a really good job I'm told. :

    I know that RUF do an instrument set in black with green numerals on exchange. But I don't think it would be cheaper than the originals. You can check.
    I see that you have the alumunium II handbrake which is very nice. Is the gear changer in aluminium too and if so, is there aluminum at the base of the changer or just silver paint?

    Give it a few more months. Maybe they won't bother you anymore. No kidding. Worked for me: I hated the SC, now I don;t even look at it.

    Third?

    Get a black guage cluster from a salvager or buy just the faces. Change the faces yourself. Cluster is easy to remove (once you find the instructions, which dealer should provide from svc manual)

    Just wondering what type of discount you got? I'm in the same boat..dealer said he would take of 8% of msrp...on a 08...is this good?

    Not compared to the FL - DFI, PDK and Sport PASM - worth 8% all day every day!!!

    Just my opinion of course!!!

    Thumpzilla-I knew the car had been at the dealership several months and it was highly optioned-and GT3 priced-and most important not moving. I told them I wanted 20% off MSRP and they laughed. I was patient, it was last day of the month and they agreed to invoice + $2000 to cover their dealer prep service and something for the salesman.There were $27k in Exclusive and regular options and the way I see it is I got almost $20k of them no charge. I do funny math, I know.
    Bottom line, is that even with new car coming out, this car was so nicely spec'd with things I'd never order due to cost and I'd been out of a P car too long. I was commited to have a Targa and I'm driving it every day since May31st and each day happier. The new car has some amazing upgrades, but they always will. I tend to not keep cars too long, except my 356.
