Uprated key fob?

Only just noticed in this scan of my brouchure but looks like a new key fob. I know it is supposed to be 'uprated' with the facelift.

Looks like same general shape though. So much for all my feeback to Porsche on saying they need to change the key to make it less uncomfortable when in your pocket!

While we're at it, have they done something to the AC system to deal with problematic __fahrting__?

Who'd have ever guessed _that_ technology was being developed!?

WOW. Seems like an entirely new model thing and not a mere facelift thing.

Meanwhile..., it looks like no key I've ever seen. What are those slots(?) for?

Could it be:

1) A folding key, like the Cayenne, and those are the switchblad buttons/mechanism?

2) A removable key blade, like Mercedes, that allows you to lock the glovebox and take the blade with you, but leave the ignition key with a valet?

3) A plastic key blank, like the Cayenne's Enter & Drive system, that let's you keep your key in your pocket and start the car with the blank as long as you're inside the car and your foot is on the brake? An option on the Cayenne, I'm sure the Panamera wuold have it ...why not the Carrera???

It's for a MiniSD memory card for your MP3's.

If they have upgraded the key, I hope it's designed so that it doesn't keep popping the hood or unlocking the doors when it's in my pocket. The raised buttons are a bit annoying.

Identical + plastic chrome

No difference other than some nice plastic chrome where you thread it onto a key ring.

Maybe it's the new optional GT silver metallic key FOB option. It's $500USD like every other stinking option

they should do keys like BMW. basically just a fob but you would still have to turn it for ignition (porsche heritage)

would be far more comfortable in the pocket.

Yes it would. I love my Vette FOB - it stays in my pocket and I never push its buttons. It just works.

I guess it has a molded aluminum frame a la Mercedes. Valuable but even more heavy as it already is.
