Would think by 2009 EVERY car will have LEDs. Why not? they are cheaper to manufacture, brighter and have a longer life. It's not as if it's just something that's cool. They work better and they're less costly. No brainer.

The current 997 Turbo already has front LED turn indicators, that's why it's frustrating the FL car does not. I like the other FL lighting upgrades but I think P dropped the ball on this. Unless they wanted to keep the Turbo unique, but still makes no sense. Like I said...

I most definitely do not like the new LED daytime running lights. Not as bad as the Audi - which looks downright ridiculous now that I've seen them on the street - but the straight-line strip of LEDs is not a fit for the otherwise curveatious 911. Also, a simple pair of HID headlights seems a bit more ominous and cool coming up from behind than some new funky lighting scheme that screams "look at me."

Whenever I see a late-model Audi's LED lights my first thought is that it must be getting close to Christmas!

They actually look cool in my opinion, telling people "here I come". The question is though: does it really improve the Porsche look? I doubt it. What may be good for Audi may not be so good for a Porsche.
I like the LED tail lights of the facelifted 997 and I still wonder why Porsche used LED turning lights on the 997 Turbo but left out the tail lights. This is just out of (design)sync in my opinion, so only god(and the person responsible for this design fauxpas) may know the reason.

I think the reason is simple: they wanted to keep that new feature for the facelift.
I'm sure car manufacturers keep cool stuff in boxes just to make the next product look fresh and new.

The more I see these back lights the less I like them !
The back lights on the 997 are way too big, and now with this 'no purpose then follow the trend ' shape they are even worse.
The pointy part just looks ridiculous .
The leds are nice, but that' it.
I would like to see much smaller lights, that would give more room for the body of the car.

they had to put the pointy bit in order to incoporate the red stripe on the forth coming c4s FL. There was no way of placing a stripe on the 997.1
